| From
blowing up balloons to making financial decisions being a Land Aid
Committee member is hands-on and very rewarding. We like to maintain
an informal and enjoyable atmosphere and meet regularly on Monday
evenings after work to plan our events and discuss new fundraising
ideas and projects. In between meetings we individually contribute
what time we can to administering events, looking after the accounts
and our general business. Putting on events is great fun but it is
hard work. We could not do it without the large group of volunteers
and past committee members who have continued to help us over the
years.
At the end of the year when we know
how much we have raised we choose a project that we wish to donate
funds to. This can be a difficult decision as there are so many
worthy causes to choose from. Usually we invite a selection of charities
to send or present a project proposal for us to consider. More often
than not our money will be enough to kick-start a project that would
otherwise not have got off the ground.
