lana and dave's spectacular one-year anniversary trip to alaska

day eight

*Lana's Daily Fun Fact*
Glacier Bay National Park has the world's highest concentration of tidewater glaciers, including the Grand Pacific, Margerie, and Lamplugh glaciers. There is also a wide variety of animal life, including whales, seals, sea otters, bears, wolves, moose (not mooses), mountain goats, and over 200 species of birds.

*Dave's Daily Fun Fact*
When we were booking our Alaskan cruise, commercials for Poseidon, the 1972 remake starring Kurt Russell, were just starting to air. I also saw Titanic and I've never gone ice skating without falling at least once. I don't think ice and me mix. Cruising through Glacier Bay provided breathtaking views of nature, numerous photo opportunities, and countless cardiac arrhythmias.

Now that we had visited our three cities, the realization that our cruise was almost over and that the real world was just around the corner started to settle in. We still had a few more days left to enjoy, so we made sure we took advantage of the ship's offerings (mostly at the cuisine end). We ate breakfast on our balcony and enjoyed the brisk air and majestic glaciers in the pristine ice water. I've said before while camping in Willits that nothing proclaims God more than the surrounding grace of nature; there is no way such intricate design of beauty could be formed by mere chance. Once again, that feeling permeated my mind as I marvelled at the sheer size and beauty of the floating masses of ice. While serving no functional purpose to man, it's apparent these glaciers can serve as permanent reminders that our Heavenly Father has blessed us with life on this planet and is always around us no matter where we go, even in the smog-entrapped city of Redlands.
