A new segment of the club and a new chapter in its history. Who are the Old Parsonians? The Old Parsonians are a bunch of old boys from the University of Wales, Lampeter/St. David's College, who have got together to form an old boys touring side. The idea was planted some time ago during the annual old boys weekend back in Lampeter leld on the first weekend of December. The idea was to create a touring club whereby old boys could keep in touch and meet up to burn off some steam several times during the year. Why are you called Old Parsonians? The college team has acquired a couple of nicknames over the years, the most popular being 'Mad Pilgrims' and 'Fighting Parsons', a test to the style of rugby both on and off the pitch. Rather than simple call ourself 'Old Boy's' we have adopted the nickname of the college club into our team name. We wear the college change colours and in recignition of the fact that the game of rugby came to Lampeter in 1850 directly from Cambridge College we were the sky and white socks of Cambridge to acknowledge our historical link. |
