This activity is split up into two stations

Station 1: Get dressed activity

What you need: 1 chair, 1 basket full of clothing and other items (hats, glasses, shoes, etc), 1 or more blindfold(s)

Set up: Place the chair and basket at the opposite ends of the room. Have the kids form 3 lines near the basket.  One line is to sit in the chair, one line is to be blindfolded, and one line is to be hearing impaired.

Directions

Hearing impaired: The person in charge will whisper to the child an item that is in the basket.  They must then communicate to the person in the chair what this item is.  They can't talk or point directly at the item.

Note: Watch out!  If the person in the chair has the person with the blindfold bring them the wrong item you must let them know without talking.

Chair: The person in the chair must tell the visually impaired person what item they need, and guide them to the chair with their voice.  Once they have the item they must put it on.  They can't put any weight on their legs- they must remain limp at all times. Once all items are on the child can stand up, take everything off, at return the items to the basket.

Note: It is important for you to communicate very well to the person with the blindfold because they can't see and need direction. Also pay attention to the hearing impaired person because they may have a hard time getting your attention if you misunderstood what item you needed.

Visually impaired: It is this person's job to find all the items that the person in the chair calls for.  Once an item is found they bring it to the person in the chair.  They can't throw it!

After all the directions are explained the fun begins.  This can be very comical if you decide to have silly items in the basket. Also, if time is running out you can have more than one person blindfolded.
