Lain takes place in the present day and the present time. It all happens a day after a classmate of hers commits suicide (the girl in the image above when she kills herself), Lain only 13 years old receives an e-mail from the recently dead girl. After the death of her classmate a wave of deaths follow, mainly young people. The Lain is haunted by visions, and pretty soon she finds that the line between the real world and the wired world have begun to blur. As Lain� translates herself into the Wired to find out about the suicides and deaths, she discovers that there seems to be another Lain, who is totally different then herself...
