���� Who IS Lain
Lain has three main selves that has been shown to us at least. They all seem to spell their names different ways. Real World Lain: (Not the Series)

���� What is Lain
Since this is Tachibana's view. Masmi Eiri has a different view. He has studied and researched data on KIDS project and the Schumann Resonance and believes that humans with the collective unconscious without aid of devices. Concinced of the power of this communication ability, Masami secretly implants software which allows device-less connection into Tachibana's latest communication procedures. When Tachibana finds out that with out devices their is no business for their products and when they discover that Masami was behind it they fire Masami. However, Masami master the ability to communicate inside the collective unconsciousness, having no need for his body he commits suicide. Believing that he is the first ot evolve to the point thinks that he has become a god, and wants to recruit other humans to join him. Tachbana, maybe out of guilt or maybe out of greed because of Masami unleashing the protocols in the Wired, he creats a counter-measure to fight Masami's influence. This counter-measure is Lain. It is Tachibana's hope that through Lain Masami's protocols will be rewritten or deleted. They think if software, which normaly has no "flesh", it can learn the importance of existance on a physical plain, people will be prevented from following Masami into the Wired. Tachibana, and not Masami Eiri, creates Lain, a sophisticated bio-organism or "homologous by artificial ribsome" which can interact in the world as a normal human being. She was created as a middle-school girl in the Iwakura family is assigned to "raise" her. Later in the series, when Masami confronts her in the Wired, he tries to convince her that he is her creator and trys to trick her to his side... < = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =>
