We're Gonna Stay -Chapter Two

Kristin: What's going to happen when me and Lorr leave tomorrow? I mean are all of us still going to be friends?
Frankie: Best friends.
Chris: Nothing's going to change between us.
Greg: (sadly) Except the distance.
Matt: This is really depressing.
Greg: Tell me about it.
Lori: We'll never forget you guys. You'll always have a special place in our hearts.
Greg: I'm a guy and I feel like I'm going to cry any minute.
Lori: Please don't cry.
Greg: Stay here with me.
Lori: Greg, come on. You're really starting to upset me. And saying goodbye is going to be even harder than it already is.
Greg: I want you with me Lorr. I'm sorry. Nothin's gonna change that.
Jesse: It's getting a little too emotional for me.
Lori: Greg just don't.
Greg: Don't what?
Lori: Just don't.
Greg: Lorr, I love you so much. Why can't you see that?
She got up off the couch and Kristin followed. Greg watched them leave then he turned to his friends and bandmates.
Matt: You must really love her.
Greg: I do. I love her with all my heart. I just wish she felt the same way. (pause) She's my world.
Matt: That's how I feel about Kristin. (pause) She's the best thing that's ever happened to me.
Greg: Yeah.
Frankie: Ask her to marry you.
The guys looked at him as if he was crazy.
Frankie: Just a thought. (pause) That'd just push her away from you even more.
Greg: You think I'm pushing her away?
Matt: Just forget it Greg. Don't listen to him. He doesn't know what he's talking about.
Greg: God. I miss her like crazy even though she's in the other room.
Chris: Greg you got it bad.
Greg: I know I do. I had it bad since the first day when she walked into my life. She- She's just too perfect.

* With Kristin and Lori*

Kristin: Lori what's wrong?
Lori: I really miss Laguna and I want to go home. Maybe if I disappear for a while he'll forget all about me.
Kristin: You know that won't happen sweetie.
Lori: Hey it was worth a shot.
Kristin: Greg really likes you a lot. He loves you Lorr. You can't just stop loving somebody. It's not possible. And don't you feel the same way about him?
Lori: Y- honestly yeah. It's just- I'm never gonna like see him again.
Kristin: You don't know that for sure though.
Lori: I know. (pause) It's going to be so hard to say goodbye to him.
Kristin: Yeah. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to Matt, too. I'm really gonna miss him.
Lori: They should come to Laguna with us.
Kristin: They probably have a tour or somethin' comin' up. I doubt they would want to.
Lori: Yeah, you're probably right.
The girls frowned.

* With the Guys *

Greg: I wish they would stay a couple more days.
Matt: A couple more days? Try like forever.
Greg: God I miss her already.
Chris: She's right in the other room, dude.
Greg: I know that. I just- I don't know. You wouldn't understand.
Then Lori and Kristin walked into the living room. The two girls looked extremely sad- like they were about to burst into tears. Greg looked over at her and watched her. He couldn't believe the girl he loved was just about to disappear from his life forever.
Kristin: Umm....hi guys.
Lori burst out crying and ran out of the room. She stopped running and went into the den.
Greg: Kristin what's wrong with Lori?
Kristin: You're her boyfriend. Go find out.
Greg: I'm not her boyfriend.
Kristin: I know. I just thought it had a nice ring to it.
Greg: I think it does too.
He got up off the couch and walked out of the room then went into the den where Lori was laying on the couch, crying hysterically.
Greg: (in a whisper) Lori.
She didn't budge. She couldn't speak because she was crying so hard. He went over to the couch and knelt beside her. He didn't like what he saw- the girl he loved crying her eyes out.
Lori: G- Gr- Greg.
Greg: I'm right here babe.
Lori: Don't leave me.
He stared into her eyes and saw something he never saw before.
Greg: I'm not going anywhere.
Lori: Promise?
Greg: I promise.
He wiped the tears and she reached up with her hand and touched the side of his face.
Lori: Greg, I know I've- I I----
He put his hand on top of hers.
Greg: You what?
Lori: I can't.
Greg: Can't what?
Lori: Can't let you go. I can't just leave you like this. (pause) Greg, I- I- love you.
Greg: I love you too princess.
Lori: I'm really sorry for everything that I put you through. I just- I tend to be a drama queen.
Greg: No you're not and you have nothing to be sorry for.
Lori: I don't?
Greg: No you don't.
Lori: Well if you say so. (long pause) Can I ask you something?
Greg: You know you can ask me anything.
Lori: Will you come to Laguna Beach?
Greg: I- I don't know.
Lori: (sounding hurt) Oh. OK. That's cool.
She sat up, letting his hand go, and got up off the couch. Then she walked out of the room. Greg ran after her and when he was close enough he put his arms around her. She tried to get out of his tight, warm loving embrace, but he wouldn't let her go.
Greg: Lorr.
Lori: What?
Greg: Don't disappear on me. OKay?
Lori: Why not? It's not like you care.
Greg: Of course I care. I love you more than anything. You're- You're my one and only.
Lori: You're not just sweet talkin', are you?
Greg: I mean it. I do love you more than anything. (pause) Now quit runnin'.
Lori: I'm not runnin'. I'm just upset.
Greg: Upset? Why?
Lori: Because I know I'm gonna lose you. I just know it.
Greg: Lorr you're not gonna lose me. Nobody's gonna take me away from you. I'm yours. Now and forever.
She finally managed to get out of his tight, warm loving embrace and when she looked at him there was a look of love in her eyes. A look of adoration.
Greg: Lorr.
Lori: Yeah?
Greg: Will you stay a couple more days?
Lori: I don't know.
Greg frowned. She put her arms around his neck and gave him a tiny kiss on the lips, which soon turned into a very passionate kiss that lasted for ten minutes. Finally, they parted.
Greg: God I love you so much.
She smiled and kissed him again, but backed away.
Lori: I love you too baby.
Greg smiled at her and gave her a hug. She put her arms around him and held him so tight and close. There was no way he could get out of her tight embrace- not that he wanted to. If he had the choice, they'd stay like that forever.
Greg: I love this.
Lori: Love what? Holdin' me?
She smiled.
Greg: Yeah. I just wish we could stay like this forever.
Lori: Yeah me too.
Greg: So why can't we?
Lori: 'Cuz I have to back to Laguna Beach.
Greg: Right.
He frowned again. Reality was beginning to set in and it was destroying him inside. He couldn't believe she would be gone tomorrow. If only he could get her to stay then he'd be set for life.
Greg: Lorr I just want you to know that I'll never find a girl like you. (pause) You're the only one for me.
Lori: Greg quit it.
Greg: (dumbfounded) Quit what?
Lori: Quit sayin' stuff like that. You're makin' me feel really bad.
Greg: Well don't. I'm just tellin' you how it is.
Lori: I can't help it. I just- I don't want to hurt you.
Greg: It's a little late for that. You already hurt me.
Lori: Oh. Well I got to go. Bye.
She got out of his embrace and left the room without saying another word. Greg stood there, hoping she would come back, but she didn't. He flopped down on the couch and picked up a photo album. He opened it and saw many pictures of her and him and her together (on the beach, at the mall, in Central Park, at Planet Hollywood, at the movies, at the bowling alley, at his house, at his friend's houses, in her hotel room- and she had a smile on her face. A beautiful smile he couldn't forget.) Suddenly he felt extremely guilty for pushing her away. That's when Kristin, Chris, Jesse, Matt and Frankie walked into the room. Kristin was holding hands with Matt, holding each other's hands tight like a child holding a lollipop like it'd be taken away any minute. Greg wondered where Lori was.
Kristin: Greg.
Greg: What Kristin?
Kristin: Why are you treating Lori like shit?
Greg: She told you I was treating her like shit?
Kristin: Not in so many words but Greg- she already feels really bad about leaving to go back to Laguna. You're just making her feel even worse.
Greg: Well I'm sorry but it hurts to see the person you love leave. And I know once she's back in Laguna she's gonna forget all about me. (pause) I just wish she realized that I'm for real. I'm not lying to her when I say that I love her and all that. She's the greatest thing that's happened to me. I'm gonna miss her like crazy. (pause) There won't be a day that goes by that I won't be thinkin' about her and how much I wish I was with her- taking care of her, holding her, loving her, spending time with her. She makes me feel alive. With her I'm complete. Without her I'm incomplete. (pause) I know she told me not to fall in love with her but I fell for her. I fell hard....I fell in love with her. (pause) She's my everything.
Chris: If that's the case why are you pushing her away?
Greg: I'm not trying to. (pause) Why would I want to push her away?
Chris: I dunno.
Greg: Exactly so don't say I'm tryin' to push her away.
Chris: OK. I'm sorry.
Greg: Where'd she go anyway?
Kristin: She didn't go anywhere. She's in the living room.
Greg: Oh. OK. (pause) Is she crying?
Kristin: No, not really. (pause) Go see her. She needs a hug. I'd give her a hug but I don't think she wants one from me. She probably wants one from you.
Greg: She probably hates me.
Lori joined them and she looked at Greg, hoping she would get his attention.
Lori: I don't hate you Greg.
Greg: So why'd you leave?
Lori: I needed time to think.
Greg: Time to think about what?
Lori: Me. . .you. . .us.
Greg: Oh. So what about us were you thinking?
Lori: Well, I got a call from my- from our friend Jessica back home and she's coming to New York tomorrow. She'll be here for three weeks.
Kristin: Is she really coming?
Lori: Yeah.
Greg: How does that help my situation with you though? I mean, you're still leaving tomorrow.
Lori: I told Jessica that we were leaving tomorrow and she begged me to stay. She doesn't want to be in New York alone.
Greg: And------?
Kristin: Did you tell her we'd stay?
Kristin and the guys looked at her---all hoping the same thing---that she said yes.
Lori: We're going to--------
She stopped mid-sentence wanting to make them sweat a little.
Kristin: We're going to what?
Guys: You're going to what?
Lori: We're gonna stay.
Kristin ran over to her and gave her a hug. The guys couldn't hide their excitement. They joined the girls and hugged them. Greg took Lori's hand and led her away from the group. They stared into each other's eyes before he took her face in his hands and deeply kissed her. She kissed him back and wrapped her arms around his neck. He slipped his arms around her waist and continued to kiss her, passionately and heatedly. (They were in their own world.)
