Another old breed of rabbit, the English Lop dates back to the 16th century. The English Lop has the longest ears of any rabbit, and the longest ears of any English Lop measured about 31 inches. Like all lops, you must check the ears often for infection, but Enlgish Lops also have the problem of tripping over their ears and scratching them, which leads to problems in showing. However, frequent nail trimming helps dissolve that problem. English Lops have a mandolin shaped body. To check if their ears are in balance, gather the ears and pull them back to their hips. If they go past the highest point, or go below it, then the rabbit's ears are unbalanced. |
