Craft Recipes

Cinnamon Clay

Bubbles

Silly Slime

Cinnamon Clay
1 1/2 cups ground Cinnamon
1 cup Applesauce
1/3 cup white School glue (like Elmer's)
1 medium bowl
Flat surface for kneading
Waxed paper
Rolling pin
Cookie cutters - various types
Knife
Straw
Non-stick cooling rack
Ribbon
Acylic craft paints, optional

Directions:

Mix the cinnamon, applesauce, and glue together in a bowl.
Take it out of the bowl and knead it on a flat surface until it turns into
a firm clay. You may need to dust your rolling pin, hands, or working surface
with cinnamon, or use wax paper as a working surface.
Let it sit for about 30 minutes.
This clay is best used at room temperature.
Roll out clay with a rolling pin to approximately 1/8 of an inch thick.
Use cutters to cut out desired shapes.
If you are going to hang your shape, use a straw to cut out a hole near
the top of the shape.
Place shapes on a non-stick cooling rack or wax paper. You will need to keep an
eye on them and turn them over occasionally so that they dry evenly and dry flat.
Dry shapes for approximately 5 days.
When dry you may put a ribbon through the hole for hanging on the tree or adding
to a package.
You may add acrylic craft paint to decorate your shapes, if you wish.

Bubbles
Supplies and equipment:

1/2 cup Dishwashing liquid
4 1/2 Cups Water
4 Tablespoons glycerin (from the drugstore)
6-cup container (1-1/2 quarts) with a tight-fitting lid for mixing and storing
the bubble solution
Measuring cup and tablespoon measure
Spoon for stirring

How To Make It

Gather up all the supplies and equipment.
Measure out the water, dishwashing liquid and glycerin into the container.
Gently stir the mixture together. DO NOT SHAKE. If a foam forms, gently skim
it off the top.
Find something with which to blow bubbles and begin to have fun. A drinking
straw will make small bubbles, a smooth-edged funnel (dip the large end) will
make big ones.
Silly Slime
Mix equal amounts of white glue and liquid laundry starch in a glass bowl.
Start with about 1/2 cup of each.
Stir thoroughly and then let it rest five minutes.
Now knead it with your hands until it comes together. Don't give up!
