Code for Fonts

There are many possible fonts and font combinations but not all computers have every font, and they may make strange substitutions if they don't have one that you specify. Therefore, it is better to use fonts that are most likely to be available.

Unlike print fonts, online fonts are easier to read if they are sans serif, so a good combination to use would be geneva, arial, helvetica.

There are many handy codes for special characters. We learned the copyright © icon, and the trademark ™. There are many more that you may find handy, such as the cent sign, the pound sign for money, the code for a horizontal tab, codes for tildes, etc. These can be found at one of the following links:

Codes for non-English characters may be found here:

Non-English Characters Code Chart

A chart for ASCII Special characters may be found here:

A browser-safe color chart is here:

Browser-Safe Color Chart

It is always better to use the hexidecimal codes for browser-safe colors (e.g., #00099,#9400f6, #ff33cc, etc.) and not named colors (e.g., red, green, blue, etc.) because browser-safe colors will work well in most browsers and named colors may not.

Use Browser-Safe Colors!
