Sean
Sean's story is what would be called a "work-in-progress". Sean has been in love with Charlotte forever. They were engaged to be married and they had even jumpstarted the wedding night. Just weeks before their wedding, Charlotte is attacked, disfigured, and left for dead. Not sure if she was raped or not. Haven't decided. Charlotte is so devastaed, especially when she finds out she's pregnant and she is ashamed because she is ugly so she doesn't want to disappoint Sean and decides to give him an easy out and leaves town, parts unknown.

Maybe she was raped, so that way she's not even sure if the baby is Sean's or the murder's. That adds a
lot of conflict, right? Right! Sean is devastated because he couldn't protect her because the wedding had been postponed because of his broken arm and missing best man because of the boating accident because...no, no other because, just messing around. Also, if he had been there, he would probably have been dead too, maybe.

He has been looking for Lottie for a while now, using his influence as a law person to help find her. But, it's been quite some time and he doesn't have a good enough reason except he misses her to exert the pressure necessary for expediatry results.

Then comes the whole hoo-haw with
Dominic and now Sean is getting desparate. What is a man to do? He finds her with her new life in a new town "newly widowed" and all scarred up from the altercation with the murderer. He also finds her pregnant.

Lots of grief later, Sean has proven to Char that he doesn't care who the baby belongs to because Char will love him/her no matter what, right? Well, same with Sean. Also, he needs her to try to remember all she can about that night that she has tried so long to forget.

Char has to revist her memories and I think I'll go back in time here and have her experience them first-hand instead of tell about it at the beginning of the book. I'll just start the book a bit later, maybe. I'll have to work out the semantics, but I think that would be pretty neat stylelistically.

Through Lottie's memories, it is revealed that there is something significant that distinguishes the murderer or something she might have done to him that will mark him and somehow or another he is caught in a dramatic chase/fight scene with Sean.

And I'm not sure if I'm gonna cop out and reveal that the baby has some distinguishing feature that makes it definitely Sean's baby or the timing of the birth or even the way the serial killer looks vs. the baby so that Sean knows for sure he's the daddy. Or, I might just torment everyone and leave it unmentioned and undecided. Because after all, Sean did say that it doesn't matter.
