    WELCOME

Margaret Atwood is one of Canada's most well-known and celebrated writers. She debuted in 1966 with the Governor-General's Award-winning The Circle Game. Since then, she has produced at least a dozen books per decade, including more poetry, criticism, and children's books. She is probably best known, though, for her novels, including The Handmaid's Tale, which have achieved an international readership in more than thirty languages.

This website is an attempt at both an up-to-date Atwood bibliography and biography, as well as a listing of the best online and print resources for further research.

If you want something interesting to read, I found an article available for free online about Atwood's newest creation-- no, not a new novel-- a remote-autographing machine: "Her contraption is a kind of two-way video hookup with a robotic pen arm. An author can sit at the kitchen table in her pajamas and make a personalized inscription on an electronic screen, while, in a distant mall, the robotic pen replicates the message on the title page of a fans propped-up book." Great idea or useless gadget? You be the judge.

    UPDATES (04/2005):
I have unfortunately had to move the site from its former, ad-free home. My apologies for the annoying sidebar courtesy of Geocities.
