Chris's Story Of How She Came To The Goddess
My name is Chris Maher.  I came to the Goddess I not realizining it.  I
would have to say I was born to her service.  I grew up on a ranch  in
Colorado, and California.  I had a love for nature and the mountains and they
spoke to me as well as my horses.  I at that time did not know it was
the Goddess all along that was influencing me to find her.  I had a
strong devotion to read anything that was King Arthur, The Merlin, or
Lady of the Lake.  I was always reading about them. No matter how many
times I read the story I just could not get tired of it.
About nine years ago, my oldest daughter had taken communion, but after
wards was not feeling a connection to the Catholic Church.  Which I
myself was not really connected with either.  One day she came home and
said she had a friend that was Wiccan and wanted to study it.  I looked
at her like she had just lost her mind!  I asked what in the world is
Wicca.  She explained what her friend had told her, witchcraft.  I can't
say I didnt have my own curiosities about witches.  I told her to let me
research it because I didnt want her getting involved in anything that
was going to get her into trouble or hurt her.
I started my research in the most logical place, the library.  They
look at me like I was from another planet.  All I could find was one
book there and it was on the witch trials, I was at a loss.  One day I
was in the mall and was in Waldens.  I asked the lady at the counter and
she pointed me to the "New Age" area.  I could not believe how many
books there were.  I was overwhelmed and didnt know which one to choose.
The one that caught my eye was by Scott Cunningham, Earth, Air, Fire,
Water and Rayburns Magical Powers of the Siants.  Rayburns book was the
one that put me on the path of the Goddesss.  Being Catholic it made so
much since to me.   So from that time I  was Eclectic Wiccan.  I had
read so much on the subject I started teaching it.  I was still
searching though for a tradition  that I felt was home. I tried  Celtic
Wicca, which was interesting but not it.  One day I was looking for
something on Avalon and I found the Sistherhood of Avalon.  At first I
felt I had finally found what I was looking for.  Even though being in
there group was not as satisfying as it seemed. I learned of books that
were exactly what I had been searching for.  So I have been on the
Avalonian Path ever since.  I have been piecing the tradition together
from archiological information and myths of the Maginogion and Ladies of
the Lake and other Celtic histories that I have found.  I know that as I
go I am creating a whole new tradition of the old Avalon.  The Goddess
has a plan for me and I know it will be made clear to me at her own time.
She has influenced me to start my own online Seminary "The Gates of
Avalon" , even though it is not accredited yeat I will keep teaching her
wisdon. I also have a correspondance prison ministy, teaching Celtic
Wicca.    September 19th I excepted my blue cresent moon the mark of a
Priestess of Avalon.  It was a big decision and Im so happy that I made
it.  I am Dedicating my self to the service of the Goddesses of Avalon
Oct 15th.  By my friend Debbie who I have seen in many of my journeys to
Avalon.  She has been the Lady of the Lake, and am so honored she will
be performing the ritual.  She is the light that filters the mist.
Nine years  of journey, I have parted the mist and for the first time
in my whole life I am home and in the arms of the Goddess.

May you always walk in her light.
Chris
