Women's spirituality groups are becoming more and more numerous all over the world.  Women from all different religions, cultures, backgrounds and every walk of life are seeking to regain their power and find their inner selves and strength Women are seeking their own spirituality and finding ways of fulfilling their spiritual needs.

Webster defines spirituality as, soul, essential, character or meaning, courage, liveliness, and frame of mind.
It does take courage to change our frame of mind. For centuries women have been oppressed for being women.  We have been made ashamed of our bodies and their functions.  We have been called unclean, weak and the originators of sin.  We have been forbidden from the temple doors and rituals during times of menstruation and pregnancy.  We were taught not to speak, not to have an opinion, not to think and not to take time for ourselves.

In ancient times women would gather during their menstrual time, because it was their time of power.  Shamans believed women who reached menopause were at their wisest.  Women were once healers. They were midwives for both birth and death.  They were teachers of the sacred traditions and keepers of the sacred words of their tribes. In ancient times women empowered other women. Women were not always shunned for being women.

In this day and age women are breaking away from the old way of thinking.  Women are finding their spirituality and awakening unto themselves.  Spirituality is a practice of staying connected with what makes us alive, which is ourselves, with one another and with the Goddess.  What is women spirituality?  A Celebration!!  Women celebrating women. Women celebrating feminine energy.  We come together in our circles and we share our stories.  We share stories of pain and disappointment. We rejoice in each others' accomplishments and encourage one another.  We share laughter and we share tears.  Every woman, no matter who they are, has a story to tell.  Each of us can learn from the stories we hear. We can learn strength, endurance and compassion from each other.  We can learn we are not alone and that we really arent so different. Womens stories can strengthen, empower, cause spiritual growth and expand our sense of self.

Women have started taking time for themselves and seeking their inner being and their inner wisdom that has always been there masked behind the dark cloak of patriarchal thinking.  Women are bonding and looking to each other for support.  Our times are changing and women are back to reclaim what was taken from them so many years ago.  Women before us have open doors for the women today As we will continue to open doors for our daughters, our granddaughters and the generations to come.

So Celebrate!!
Celebrate the Goddess in you
and the Goddess in your sisters.
