| I had a special dream last night Of a very beautiful place. I saw my mom with open arms A smile upon her face. She said, "My son, where have you been For it has been so long? I was so afraid you had lost your way Or the road you took was wrong." Then she said, "Come let me show you This very lovely place." I could tell my mom was happy I could see it in her face. We entered through the pearly gates And walked down the streets of gold. I met dear friends that I had lost of ages both young and old. And we went and sat by the river of life And she shared her prayers with me That some fine day I'd be with her Throughout all eternity. Then she said, "There's someone you must meet For he really loves you so." But I really didn't understand For his face I did not know. And the last time I saw mother She was standing by the gates She said, "Go safely on your way and remember don't be late." Then I awoke that morning On bended knees on the floor Begging God for forgiveness And vowing to roam no more. So spend eternity in peace, Dear Mother For I'm never, no more, to roam And wait for me with open arms For your son is 'coming home.' Written for my mother - April 21, 2001 |
