Thanks to them we can laugh when we are down and smile when we are blue. I Love Lucy began in 1948. Yes, 1948, when Lucille Ball was performing her role as a housewife in the radio comedy "My Favorite Husband".This popular show served as the inspiration for the I Love Lucy T.V. series. Not happy with negotiations with CBS, Lucy and Desi decided to start a television series of their own.One day, Lucy, Ricky and a business man were discussing this new show. Lucy did something funny I guess and Ricky exclaimed " Oh, how I love that Lucy!!!" Thus, the name was born Originally, the characters' names were Lucy and Larry Lopez, and Fred and Ethel were not written into the whole concept yet.By and by , I Love Lucy started out with Vivian Vance and William Frawley as the Mertzes, and Lucy and Desi as the Ricardos. Altough they are America's favorite neighbors, Vivian and William never quite got along. The first I Love Lucy show was aired October 15, 1951 and it was Television history after that! Lucy came to run until 1957, with 181 episodes, including the pilot and Christmas special. I will add things to this website, but be patient I am new to this! |
