Dear Diary,

I guess I get a little carried away sometimes.  I found out that my neighbors who have children were without a vehicle.  Since we have an extra car that just sits in our garage I thought of giving it to them.  I am now glad that they didn't take me up on the offer to borrow it and fix it.  Dad Wesley said that it was a bad idea all around and I see his wisdom in that.  It would have cost my neighbors money to fix the car, when they could just get their van back.  He also said that I  don't have the kind of money to just throw away $3000.

When I was little my mom needed a car and we didn't have one so a very nice family in the Seventh Day Adventist Church gave us a Lincoln Town Car for $1.  It was the nicest vehicle we ever had.  Their generosity along with many other people kept us afloat over the years.  When I was a baby I got very sick and was in the hospital for a while.  I think it was pneumonia.  My family was living in a basement at the time with no electricity.  Some nice people from the church brought a refrigerator full of food and got electricity in so that my medicine didn't go bad because it had to be refrigerated.   Another time people brought food as well.  I am not sure if I remember all these times exactly.  The one when I was a baby my mother told me.  I just think about this alot and am very grateful.  I am not sure if I would be alive without all this help when I was young.  I always want to help others now.

I do see that  what Dad Wesley says is true as well.  He says that these people helped us because we were in their church and following the teachings of the church.  He said if you don't help the people in your church what good are you.  He says that if you help people too much they will just think that you are stupid and easy and take advantage of it.  Even if they don't you aren't really helping them solve the problems.   He is now going to take the car and find out exactly what is wrong with it so that when I get some money I can fix it and sell it or if I don't get money just sell it.

I went to visit Ms. Rae tonight.  It was a very delightful visit.  I had taken over $10 to help with her American Heart Association fund.  She was on the phone when I went to her door.  She ended up staying on the phone trying to return a cell phone (Nextel), she had bought, from 7pm to almost 9pm.  She showed me all the pretty ceramics her neice had made for her.  I was amazed at the pretty ones that she had made herself.  She has some geraffes that look alive she did such a good job.  She is going to teach me how to do plastic canvas.  She makes the prettiest picture frames and things.  She really is a nice lady.  It is sad that she is getting older she will be 75 this year.  She says that her children want her to come up north and live near them but she would have to live in an old folks home.  She would have to leave all the pretty things that she loves.  It is so sad.  I have heard that in some cultures the elderly are honored and learned from but it doesn't seem like so here.  I would hope that in living so long they could teach us so much.   I will have to spend more time with her.  She invited me back over.

Zamian said that they will be moving.  I know I will miss them.  We met Zamian on the day we got our bed.  We came home and there he was with a friend sitting in our yard playing with the rocks.  He wouldn't hardly talk until I went in and got our Furbys and let them play with the Furby's.  He has been the nicest little boy.  He always caught our dog for us.  The whole family seems nice.  I was pretty happy that his sisters liked their birthday gifts this year.  I got them each a wooden carved picture with a happy Bible verse on it and $10.  They just turned 12 and 13 within 3 days of each other.  Their dog Eve likes to come over and play with my dogs.  She is such a cute puppy.  She puts up with both of my dogs ganging up on her.  Bearon will grab her legs and pull them, Dutchess will grab her face whatever.  The puppy just goes back for more.  That puppy is growing like crazy.

I am going to bed now. Goodnight.
Beth

P.S.  I learned a little more about Seitan yesterday and I made it as Barbecue sandwiches w/ fake macaroni and cheese.  Nathaniel didn't like it he ended up eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  I liked it though. I found recipes at www.vegweb.com.
