| ANIMAL PAGE |
| I intend this page to be a little different. Recently I have been reading more about the treatment and mistreatment of animals, mainly farm animals. I just wanted to put up some Bible verses that I think pertain to this. If anyone has anything to reply please email me. [email protected] I am a believer in the seventh day sabbath. I was reading tonight the 4th commandment and maybe I had never noticed before but God gave animals a rest as well. Genesis 20: 8. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10. but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. New King James Version. Proverbs 12: 10. A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. Proverbs 26: 23. Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds; 24. For riches are not forever, Nor does the crown endure to all generations. 25. When the hay is removed, and the tender grass shows itself, And the herbs ot the mountains are gathered in, 26. The lambs will provide your clothing, And the goats the price of a field; 27. You shall have enough goats' milk for your food, For the food of your household, An the nourishment of your maidservants. Please read this chapter, Ezekiel 34. It seems to be drawing a picture of God as the Ultimate Shepherd and how others did not do what they were supposed to in caring for the children of Israel. Here are some tidbits but please read chapter and maybe book to have in more context. Ezekiel 34: 3. "You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. 4, " The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. ......10. 'Thus says the Lord God: "Indeed I Myself am against the shepherds, and I will require my flock at their hand; I will cause them to stop feeding the sheep, and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them." I am sure that there are many other verses and things and I need to study more about the ones I am putting here. I understand that God told the Israelites that they could use the animals for food and sacrifice, from what I can tell God did the sacrifices to teach people how aweful sin is and that there are consequences, pointing toward the ultimate sacrifice His Son dying on the cross for our sins. I don't believe that God ever intended us to look at it purely from a comercial or money standpoint. Solomon the wisest man to ever live told in Proverbs to take care of your animals. I know that God gave animals to man. Genesis 1. 28. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." This was before sin and right afterwards God gives Adam and Eve the green herbs and every tree whose fruits yeilds seed for food. I think we were entrusted to care for the animals. In the Bible I also noticed that whatever happened to the people also happened to the animals. I just did a simple search for all the places that the word animal shows up in the Bible using a Bible search engine. Please email me with comments. I have read so much lately about this if interested in what I read about animals recently check out links provided below. |
