Family Tartan

Tracing my ancestors' clan name, I find we're
descended from a long line of Irish High Kings
with fabled �Nine Hostages'. There, a son named
Owen established his own kingdom, Tirowen,
which is part Tyrone County in today's Ireland.
For hundreds of years this dynasty ruled
Northern Ireland. During the 10th century
the royal court was moved to Tullahoge
which became the coronation spot of
all my ancestors' kings.
Domnall 'of Armagh', a ruler, reigned
until the English conquest in the
16th century.
After the deaths of
Flaitbhertach 'of the Pilgrim's Staff'
and his son Aodh Athlaman, in
1036 and 1033 respectively, a rivaling clan
dominated the kingship of Aileach
for the next 150 years,
until Aedh 'the lazy youth' managed to break
into their monopoly of kingship.
There were always vicious hostilites
between the two family's clans.
The Battle of Caim Eirge in 1241 A.D.,
forced the clansmen of two families
to defeat my family's rivaling clan,
during which most of their (the rivals) "derbfine" or royal line
was slain, giving uncontested kingship
of Northern Ireland to
my ancestors.
