The LA Chess League will consist chess teams from around the city to compete for honor and glory.  The winning team will have their names placed the Sunday Los Angeles Times Chess Column.

The Teams - will consist of four players each
Alternates - each team will be allowed a total of 3 alternates
Wildcard player - I understand that you may not know which teammates may be available to play at the begining of the league.  I am allowing one non-registered player to join the team at anytime.  However after he/she plays, the team captain must notify me of this wildcard player and I will add him to you list of alternates.
The Average Rating - Unlike the US Amature team tournaments, there is no limitation of the team average rating.
The Time Controls - G/60 Sudden Death
The Moves - Touch Move rules apply in every game.
The Ratings - unrated
The Tournament Format - If there is enough teams, then we will have a Swiss System.  However, if the turnout is small, then we will have either a single or double round robin.
The Fee - free
The Prizes - None, however I hope to get a sponser soon!
The Playing Site - Each team is responsible for providing a home location for the visiting teams to come and visit.
The Playing Hours - On weeknights, the round should start between 7-8PM to allow for the other team to come and meet.  You team should be flexible to allow people who need to travel great distances after work or school.
Teams Arriving Late - Since on the first time, it may be difficult for the other team to find your home site, I would encourage you to be as flexible as possible to accomidate the other team.  If after 30 minutes your opponent doesn't arrive, then start their clock.
