LA BOHEME DESIGNS - FAQNo, not unless you want to. I realize you have cherished items, sometimes heirloom treasures, and will work these into the master plan. You should never feel you have to throw it all out, (unless you want to!) I respect clients sacred pieces, and I don�t want to dismiss them.
Do I have to do the entire house, or can we work room by room?
I often work room by room or one floor at a time. It is more cost effective, if possible, to do this. In other cases we work on the entire home or just finishing touches throughout. I encourage you to start with a Home Consultation which provides a master plan. This enables you to break the project into steps and gives you a written blueprint to measure progress by.
How do you charge?
I customize our fees to the client and project. Typically I work off of an hourly fee retainer with a discount from trade retail. In some cases, clients prefer to pay a significantly higher hourly fee and get all goods at cost. And, if the project involves construction and remodeling I often work off a percentage of project cost. I will provide you with an estimate at the project initiation, to avoid any unpleasant surprises later, and help you manage cash flow.
Do you have a contract?
Yes, I have a letter of agreement. This protects both the designer and client from any surprises and confirms and clarifies the scope of the project and all fees. It includes an estimate of project time anticipated and written master plan detail.
