9/11/05: A little over 2/3 of the way done with the second draft of Entertaining Angels. Also, been focusing a lot of stand up comedy, which I think I will do a lot more of this coming year.
9/01/05: Updated the Entertaining Angels page. Not much new info, just saying I'm about 1/3 of the way done with the 2nd draft of the script. There, now you don't even have to check it out.
8/20/05: Updated the Entertaining Angels page. Scroll to the bottom!
8/13/05: With Spade on the River completely done, I decided it was time to open up a page for Entertaining Angels. You can read my bold declaration of how the movie should turn out, as well as a brief plot description.
8/5/05: Wrote a Review of Spade on the River. Also, on page 67 of 'Entertaining Angels' and loving every page!
7/31/05: Finished "Spade on the River" which I am very glad about. Praise God! Anyway, I gotta go to work so I won't write the whole deal with it, but there's some stuff on that page. Also, I'm on page 57 of my new movie, tentatively called 'Entertaining Angels.'
7/15/05: Wrote a review for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which has always been a favorite book and movie of mine. As far as 'Spade' goes, I'm finished with the video and grinding through the audio. Hope to have it all done in two weeks.
6/23/05: They're onto me! Angelfire has shut down the media vault because I was breaking their terms of agreement or what not by using their website as a file sharing device. Just using to hold my video clips in conjunction with this site, in other words. So that has all gone to waste. The clock is ticking, soon I will have much money from work and will be able to afford a pretty good website. Lord willing! Also, been doing sound recording for Spade on the River
6/19/05: Put up the 'Spade on the River' trailer!!! It's not the final trailer, and it's in pretty bad quality, but once I actually pay for a pro website that will hopefully be taken care of. You can find it here. That said, I have done a TON of post production, getting color correcting and audio level stuff done. I don't know the real terms. I've got a good rough cut finished, and now I'm just polishing and doing the soundtrack, etc...
6/11/05: This time, my prayers were answered. We filmed an inconcievable amount and finished production on 'Spade on the River'! Absolutely complete! We got done EVERYTHING we needed to, and a little more! I am very very happy right now. I'm also back down in SoCal for the summer, where I'll do some intense work on post production.
6/3/05: Well, your prayers sure were answered, because we filmed almost 20 whole pages yesterday, taking a HUGE chunk out of our remaining schedule! Thank you very much! Furthuremore, it all went good, which is something that doesn't always happen. It was quick and fast and effective and efficient. Only one or two more days left, and both will be short! Spade on the River official site.
5/30/05: Updated the Spade page again, with another whopping journal entry. Started working on my next script and it's going well! Got so much to do this week it's ridiculous! Keep praying for me!
5/28/05: Theophilus Productions get its first message board so you can come talk about our movies, your movies, or movies in general! Also, oh man, got so much to do in the next two weeks to finish the movie. Got a billion things to do. Insane!!! Pray that I can finish everything.
5/20/05: Added a general update to the Spade on the River page. Almost done with shooting! Only a little bit left!
5/17/05: Updated the Spade page complete with a new journal entry, which is complete with a new rant! Also, I added another video into the media vault. This one featuring my wonderful mother, Chris Cowgill. Hi mom! Mom the mom mom mom!
5/12/05: I guess I was trying to mimic my Lord and Savior today, because I gave and took away. I took the pictures off the media vault and added a couple really cool clips! Well not 'cool' I guess, they're really simple. Basically just short, one shot clips. But they give you a bit of a hint into the characters, and they are both funny. Keep in mind of course, I'm not in full blown post production, so there hasn't been much color correcting or sound improvement etc...
5/6/05: Once again, updated the Spade page, complete with the biggest journal entry so far. Read about how good the movie is coming along! Also, I plan to have the full length trailer up sometime next week.
4/18/05: Updated the Upcoming movies page with an announcment of what my next movie will be. I also wrote an autobiography for the fun of it. You can also find it at the essays section.
4/12/05: Updated the Spade page with a freaking novel on the 6th day of shooting.
4/11/05: Updated the media vault with a brand spankin new video clip from 'Spade on the River.' I'll update the Spade page itself later with a new journal from Saturdays shoot, and probably the reshoot we did earlier in the week.
4/4/05: Updated the Spade page again with a new journal. Also, I've been working on business cards and some graphic design work, becaue I'm looking to get a new website with a real domain name soon. Probably won't happen for a while, but it's in the works.
3/26/05: Big changes happening for Spade on the River.
3/17/05: Check out the Spade on the River page for the new journal. Also, I wrote an essay comparing Lebron James to Michael Jordan and Dwyane Wade.
3/15/05: Alright guys, I put up the teaser trailer for Spade on the River!
3/10/05: Okay, finally an update! I put up new pics on the media page. Also updated the Spade on the River page with a new (short) journal entry.
2/22/05: Okay guys, I posted an entire essay on the second day of filming over at the Spade on the River page. Was it good? Was it great? Did it suck? Find out by clicking the link!!! Also I added a gang of pictures and updated the media vault. You can find brand new Spade on the River set pics!
2/16/05: Alright guys, to prove to you that I have reason to be optimistic, I have posted a clip from Spade on the River!!! I think the clip looks good, flows very well and is expertly acted by Sami Haj. Also, this was the most difficult and awkward scene to shoot on the first day of shooting, with limited crew and some technical problems. If this is as bad is it will get, I am very excited. Praise the Lord!
2/12/05: First day of shooting is in the books! A very succesful day of shooting leaves me very optimistic about the future. We shot everything in less time than I had scheduled, and it turned out to be great quality. A few problems with sound, but what can you expect? A little bit off focus in some parts, but nothing very noticable. I will probably reshoot some stuff, but not much. Also, put up some pics from the shoot, you can find them here.
2/6/05: Well, shooting starts this coming Saturday. Ya know, I've scouted the locations, storyboarded, schedules, set up shot by shot how I'll do things and I still feel underprepared. Just thinking about shooting day seems so surreal. I've been in pre-production since July now, and actually filming this thing seems wierd. It's like you know you're engaged for six months, but on the wedding day it still seems like it came too fast. But I'm excited! Next time I update I'll have pictures from the first day of shooting. Also, updated the Spade on the River page complete with a few storyboards!!!
1/23/05: Updated the Spade on the River page. Three weeks till shooting day!
12/25/04: Merry Christmas everybody! I updated the Upcoming Movies page. It's now clean and clear. After Spade on the River and the Dingbat flick, I'll be doing a film noir called Brothers Keeper that I've wanted to do since high school. I now have every movie that I will do during college planned out. Unless inspiration strikes again, as it did for Spade on the River. In which case I'll throw my 'upcoming movies' page out the window.
12/18/04: Finished the script to Spade on the River!!! I'm very excited, and updated the Spade page, perhaps a little too much. My usual ramblings and such. Anybody wondering what in the world is up with "Springtime Love"? Probably not, because I'm the only person who reads this website and the only person who cares. But to all my imaginary fans, I'll tell you. The weather changed, so I haven't been able to shoot the chase scene even yet! I did a couple reshoots early in the term, but still no chase. So I'm going to shoot all of Spade on the River, then cut my hair to the length it was in "Springtime", then shoot the rest of what needs to be shot. The third film in the Dingbat trilogy isn't dead! I'm also looking forward to shooting the full-length Dingbat film. Look for that to be shot fall term of 2005, so it should be completed in a year.
11/27/04: Updated the Spade on the River page again. Check it out!
11/8/04: Now have a definite audition time and place in Portland, Oregon. So check out the Spade page.
11/2/04: Updated the Spade on the River page again. I'll be updating it pretty consistently.
11/1/04: Created a page for Spade on the River. Everything important as of now is on that page, but I'll update in consistently.
10/24/04: Will be shooting new episodes of 'The Jamboree' starting next week, after nearly a year and a half dedicated to making silent movies. I made three silent shorts in about a year (except that Springtime Love still has to be tampered with) which I feel is decent. But I plan to do a couple Jamboree's before I start shooting "Spade of the River" which will take up the better part of the rest of the year. I also plan on doing a full length silent feature following the exploits of the Dingbat. It would be fun to do, and depending on how well a feature silent film is recieved I might do more. Anyways, gotta lot of stuff planned! Oh, also I will be putting the old Jamboree's on DVD's as soon as I can get ahold of the tapes which won't hopefully be long. Looking forward to shooting new ones, which start this Wednesday. Andre McGee tape is in limbo right now.
9/8/04: The title to my next movie will be "Spade on the River." I kinda like the ring it has to it! Anyways, I'll be updating that page soon, as well as putting together a ranking of the best films of the summer. Oh, and my Jordan Theory essay will be updated. I kinda rushed that bad boy and didn't really say what I meant to.
8/29/04: Updated the essays page. Read all about my Jordan theory! I have a few more essays coming soon, on entertainment, the purpose of art and how cool kangaroos with machine guns are!
8/7/04: Updated the essays page and the upcoming movies page. Also, congrats to Amy Minderhout (starring in Springtime Love) for landing a speaking role in a real hollywood film! I have a famous actress in my movie! Also updated some comments on the Springtime Love page.
7/30/04: Got inspired for a new movie! All my other projects (aside from finishing up Springtime Love). This new one will be a drama/comedy/action flick. This will be a Christian movie with a liberatarian slant. Read more about it here.
7/1/04: Opened up the Theophilus Productions Store!!! This obviously means that I am soon to be a millionaire, selling tens of thousands of DVD's to fans all over the world... Hmm.... Yeah.... Or at least a couple people like family and friends who are merciful and want to support me so I don't wind up on the street! So if ya want to check it out, I encourage you to!
6/27/04: Hi all. I was an extra in a rather low budget movie called Rough Diamonds yesterday. I'm also working on it tomorrow. So that means that I have been an extra on: Like Mike, Power Rangers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and now Rough Diamonds. Ha! So I'm really nothing at all yet! In fact, I think you can barely see me in any of these. Never seen any though, so I couldn't tell ya. Oh yeah, created a new upcoming movies page for anybody who cares. Also updated the Springtime Love page.
6/22/04: Ok, updated a few pages, such as the Past Projects page and the Springtime Love page. Currently I am working on refining Springtime Love and putting together the third in a series of basketball highlight tapes for my old high school. This tape will feature exclusively the play of phenom Andre McGee, seeing as Tron Smith has moved on to play at Arizona State. If you're a basketball nut and want to tell all your friends you know who the next LeBron James is, drop me a line and I'll hook you up with a tape.
6/18/04: Sorry for the long time between updates. Shot the "chase scene" sort of. Kinda ok. Lots of stuff needs to either be redone or stuff needs to be added. Still though, what was shot was funny and worked. BTW I'm updating from Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank! Friend got me a pass :) I'm trying to get an internship here. Anyways, the movie is really at the point where it's looking like a movie and I can make solid judgements on how I think it will turn out. Check the Springtime Love page for my thoughts.
6/7/04: An update finally. Had a great day of the other day! "Springtime Love" actually looks like a movie now! Going to shoot the chase scene most of the day Thursday. After that, all that's left is some editing. Very excited. Unless I screw it up BAD on Thursday, this movie will be the best thing I've done. Will have pictures of last weeks up soon, and after Thursday (if I'm still living) I'll put up some pictures and perhaps video clips. Oh, I also moved ALL the media into the New Media Vault. I also got rid of "The Dingbat" trailer and will make a new, better one shortly. The old trailer SUCKED.
5/23/04: Had a bad day of filming. Nothing fun happened today. Had a couple of stunts I wanted to do that people talked me out of doing. Struggling to figure out when/if I can do a good chase. Really depressed. I'll update when I have some clever ideas.
5/22/04: Updated the Past Projects page, hope you find that interesting. Also, filming a good part of the chase scene tomorrow, and I'm starting to get nervous. Pray that it works out well please! Furthermore, cleaned up the site a bit. But you can still see the news archive here.
5/19/04: Opened a new media vault with some clips and pics from 'The Dingbat.' More will be added there soon. As for 'Springtime Love', I'm a bit tomorrow and starting big on the chase scene this weekend. I pray that it will turn out good! Also, please pray that I still live afterwards, because I'm planning on doing some crazy stuff. Naw, I'll still be alive afterwords I'm sure. The question is: how much?
5/18/04: Okay yall, put out the trailer for 'Springtime Love' (as is the working title)!!!! I hope you guys enjoy it, it's only the teaser trailer. You can find it here. As for the rest of the movie? The stuff I have edited already looks great. Funnier than any of the stuff I've ever shot before (except for MAYBE some stuff in The Jamboree). Looking forward to doing the chase scene. If I can do all the stuff I plan to do for it the chase will be awesome. Better than the one in The Dingbat. Oh, and by the way, for those interested, I wrote a comparison between The Dingbat and For the Love of the Dame. I wrote a couple weeks ago actually but never posted it. Anyways, now I have.
5/16/04: Added ten pictures from yesterdays shoot. You can see them here.
5/15/04: First day of came and went. Got nearly all the scenes (apart from the chase) completed. Need a few more done before I start in on the chase. My reaction to the day? Well, I really wish that I had a couple weeks to shoot everything we shot today in. There are some scenes which aren't as good as they could be, but I was in such a rush to get done because everybody had to leave at different times and I didn't want to keep people waiting. Was the day a success? Yeah. Some stuff came out really funny. I'm exhausted (spelling?). Complete reaction to the first day is here. I will have pictures and some clips up tomorrow, maybe even a short trailer.
5:12:04: I'm getting hyped! Three days to the shoot! Everything is worked out and ready to roll. Lord willing it won't rain! Anyways, here's the rundown for the actors on what they need to bring and be prepared for: here it is.
4:28/04: Great news! Shawn Nelson over at Nelson Entertainment is going to AD for the new silent film! That's right, himself and a billion pieces of amazing equipment as well. The set will actually almost look like a set, rather than like a crazy wild fiend running around everywhere making a fool of himself with some gorilla holding up a camera! There will also be a producer/screenwriter (yes, a real one) present to 'scout me out' for directing a movie that he already said I could direct. So, actors and actresses, be on your best... um... acting, because if you do good and seem fun to work with, you may get to be in a substantially bigger flick than the silent one. Updated the spring silent comedy page.
4/25/04: Important change in dates! Shooting has been pushed back one week! But, if this presents a problem for too many of you, I will change it back to the 8th, but hopefully everything will work fine. I forgot that I had told Calvary Chapel that I would go to Shasta with them and make a video that weekend. Sorry!
4/24/04: Put Avery Lodge's address on the Spring Silent Comedy page. Also, remember that Sherlock horror spoof movie that I was in talks to direct? Well, it looks like it's going to happen. All that I need to do is get the budget right and it's done. So I pray that that works out, because if it does, I may never have to guerilla (spelling?) shoot again.
4/22/04: Big things happening with this new silent comedy. Actresses from Portland are going to be in it! I'm very excited. I actually wrote a script (gasp). So to all the actors and actresses who are going to be in the movie, check this page for details and updates.
4/16/04: Finished my utterly worthless essay on how I make my movies. You can find it here.
4/14/04: Wow, been a couple of months! Well, The Dingbat is finished now. I've decided not to run it to many film festivals, and you check out the reasons here. And now I'm starting out on a new movie! Yet another silent comedy! I obviously can't escape the genre. This will conclude (I think) the Dingbat trilogy. Then again, I might make another 8 of em', who knows? Check here for info on the new movie!.
2/6/04: Finally an update! The movie 'The Dingbat' is finally finished (or just about so) and it turned out better than I thought it would. In fact, I got a couple of people saying that it's better than 'For the Love of the Dame' so I'm exited. Anyway, I also added a random clip of me doing a back hand spring because I just learned how and wanted to show it off. You can find it in the media page.
11:12/03: The trailer for 'The Dingbat' is up on the media page, so check it out!!!
11/8/03: Long time since the last update. Sorry! Shooting has been going rediculously good for the most part. Well, some things need to filled in and some things need to be reshot, but overall, things are funny, and that's what's important. I updated the media page with a picture of me doing a stunt that would make my mother cry, so check it out! Furthure updates coming.
10/19/03: The first day of filming came and went yesterday. It was not at all what I wanted, so I have decided to scratch the day and film parts of it again this Saturday. In fact, not only was all the footage yesterday scrapped, but the whole movie itself. It will no longer be a full length comedy-drama, it will just be a short comedy, about 15 minutes long maybe. I am severly dissapointed and depressed. Look at the Dingbat page for the change in events.
10/16/03: Ok, change in events. This Saturday, we are no longer shooting at AJ's Bar and Grill. Instead, we are shooting at 'Chinese Delight' on 325 NW 2nd Street, at 12:00 NOON! If you would like to meet me at Avery Lodge before we head over, we'll be meeting at 11:30 a.m. over here. Avery Lodge is at the corner of 9th and Madison.
10/15/03: Good news!!! On Saturday the 25th, we'll be shooting at American Dream Pizza. You know what this means... Pizza for everybody! On me! (I'm buying some for the scene, but we can eat it after shooting.) Also, updated the Dingbat page.
10/14/03: Added the shooting schedule and more on the Dingbat page, so check that out if you want to be a part of it.
10/13/03: Added a new media page, where you can check out the brand spankin' new 'For the Love of the Dame' trailer!!! Also, a whole bunch of pages are updated, so run through the site and see what's new.
10/10/03: Shooting starts for the silent comedy 'The Dingbat' next Saturday, the 18th, at 11:30 a.m.
10/10/03: I will be shooting scenes for the film 'Sherlock Holmes vs. Dracula' here in a couple weeks. I'll keep you posted on events and updates.
