1. Entertaining Angels: Pure comedy about a guy down on his luck who meets his guardian angel, who only he can see. This is kinda a comedy spinoff of 'It's a Wonderful Life', but will be really fun to do. Primarilly a physical comedy showcase. Think of it as a Jim Carrey vehicle, only I'll be Jim Carrey. And there a few other really funny parts too.
I am working on developing a few projects, one of which may be a kung fu film as a collaboration with Mike Backus. That could be another dream project as I've always loved kung fu.
DREAM PROJECTS
This list of movies is nothing more than my goals for the future. Each of these movies would be a 'dream project', but this doesn't mean that I have written any scripts for them or plan to for at least a while.
1. Abbott and Costello Biopic: The greatest comedy team ever, and yet not a singled good biopic of them has been made! There was a made for TV movie in the 70's but it evidently sucks. I would love to do these guys justice. I would also love to play Abbott!
2. The Land Beyond the Shadows: This is a short story I've been working on for a while. I kind of 'Peter Pan' or 'Chronicles of Narnia' type venture, where the lead character Spencer goes into another world. This would be a comedy more than anything, as the short story is. There are some genuinely funny (in my opinion) funny characters in this sucker, including a swordsmith/recruiter named Wellington and a Viking named Kolli. As it turns out, I myself am Norweigan (descendant from Vikings) and Kolli is the Viking name for Kyle. Gee, that wasn't intentional.
3. Esther: Perhaps the greatest short story in the Bible. The story of Esther is fascinating, and perhaps unsurpassed in both irony and brilliance. Reading Esther, you realize that God really is a storyteller and a showMan who saves the best act for last.
4. Winn: The story of my grandmothers life, Jessie Winn, and in turn, my mothers as well. I have never heard a story of a family who went through more hell than my mothers. What is amazing is that her and her siblings all turned out to be better for it. Completely a story of how God turns evil into good. This would obviously be more dramatic, but I would probably add some comedy in there. I would like to play the part of Grandfather, who was the reason for all the hell. In fact, I might focus the story on HIS life and play it out as a tradgedy. I have never known or even heard of a man more tradgic than my grandfather. (I guess one could say Hitler, but he wasn't as tragic as catastrophic. With my grandfather there is real sympathy, but with Hitler it's hard to feel sad at him burning in hell).
5. Jerry Lewis Biopic: Okay, another biopic of a famous comic, I know. But this guy is another tradgedy. Jerry Lewis may be the epitome of the deranged clown. I am guessing you know who I would like to play? If I could, that is. I don't have the same build and facial features. Would be fun though!
6. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: I know what you're thinking. "That's been done before, and it's about to be done again!" Yes I know. Gene Wilder was absolutely brilliant in the first one, and now Tim Burton is about to remake it. The thing is, Tim Burton is a stupifying bad story teller, so I'm guessing the new remake will tank in a week. If that is the case, maybe in fifteen years I can remake it! Hopefully.
You probably have noticed that only one of my dream projects are original works. The rest are based off of other people's lives or stories that have been told before. True! The truth is that I haven't really created any stories on my own yet (aside from the one) that I think would make a good movie.
