EATING HABITS

Fisher cats are carnivorous animals and are very highly skilled hunters.  It uses surprise as more of an asset rather than speed when it is hunting.  The fisher is one of the only animals that hunts the porcupine and can actually take one down, the fisher cat injures the face weakening it with every blow and when it cant fight back the fisher kills.  Fishers are known for feeding on the snowshoe hare, the snowshoe hare is one of the Fisher's favorite meals.  Fisher cats have also been known to feed on small animals such as:  Poultry, baby bobcats, squirrels, mice, voles, carrion, birds, frogs, and mast.
