| Dear o dear, Zepplin have produced possibly the worst ever management game, and this is it!
Okay then, its probably not the worst, but i wouldnt rate it far from that. |
| Firstly this game was one that came out pretty much on the day of the death of the spectrum, not very good for advertising, and certainly not very good for the poor unfortunate me, seeing as i was desperate for this game, and searched all of the shops in my area, then gave up.
Well I say I gave up, what I actually mean is that I searched every Carboot Sale and second Hand shop I could find, still no luck (well actually probably quite a lot of luck considering the game!) |
| So Then I finally gave up, then the world of emulation entered my life, and I remembered this game, so I looked around all off the sites, yet i still couldnt find it, So I gave up again, then finally it appeared on World Of Spectrum, so I quickly downloaded it and laughed. |
| Oh im so glad I spent almost 10 years looking for this, If id have known at the time, i could have spent more time doing more interesting things than looking through dusty second hand shops.
The 'game' is simple, with management games you either have complex games with tonnes of options or normal games, with a few options, this game doesnt even make it to the level of a normal game, its just simple, you pick your team, you buy players, you can even train them, but it all feels wrong. |
| If you have read the review of Graeme Souness Soccer Manager, then you'll know that it didnt have as many options as this, yet i rate that game higher, this is mainly due to the poorly implemented 'options'
What you get when you start is a choice of any 4th Division team, which I think is a good idea, I like to work my way through the divisions. Then its into the 'game'. Here you get a diary of the day, and a bunch of icons on the right hand side of the screen, what you have to do is put an icon into each section of your diary, simple. |
| The icons are your basic options, such as talk to a scout, talk to physio or buy players, pick team, that sort of thing.
But again, it all feels wrong. once, maybe twice a week you get a match, which is introduced in true MOTD style with Des Lynam and Jimmy Hill presenting the show, then its into the animated highlights, which are actually quite good, looking like the game Footballer of the Year, but thats it, no control or subs, just seeing the result. |
| The results are also very unbelievable, with teams winning 5 or 6-0 pretty much every game, which is unforgivable in this type of game, where what we want is realism.
Basically I wouldnt waste my time on this game, It really doesnt offer anything new, and there are much better games out there if you look past the big names. |
