| The Sinclair Spectrum was one of the most popular home computers during the early 1980's, it was also home for thousands of great games, also some not so great games! Original forms of this machine, zx80 and zx81, were very primative, with only a small amount of power. Then the most famous Spectrum was released, the rubber keyed classic Spectrum 48K. This is the machine most people will remember and will probably have owned at some point! With a whopping 48K memory this computer could finally handle a few graphic filled games, well when I say graphic filled what I actually mean is monochrome (two coloured) graphics. In the mid 80's the computer was sold to Amstrad, where the Spectrum 128K +2 and +3 came to light. These boasted a much better keyboard, and more memory, so the sound and graphics were slightly inproved. The +2 had a tape deck attached. The +3 had a Disk drive attached. |
