Best shipper fic: This fic is for all things fluffy. There should be a great deal of romance in your fanfic. All ships (this means pairings) are allowed (couples that were or were not featured on the shows, male/female, male/male and female/female pairings,...) but again, nothing offensive!Best action fic: This is for fics in which action plays a major part. This can go from patrolling to epic Apocalypses, but there should be a great deal of action.
Best dialogue: This can be almost anything: humor, arguments, etc. The only requirement is that your fic has good dialogue. It doesn't have to be 'Buffy-speak', but well-written, witty dialogues should form a big part of your story.
Best angst fic: This is, of course for angsty fics. Your story should hold a lot of emotion, drama etc. it doesn't matter if this is written as a dialogue, as inner thoughts, diary entries,...
Most Joss-ly fic: This is for people who care about 'keeping it real'. This can be a random episode for one or both shows, a sequel to where the shows ended, flahbacks to the past,... The only requirement is that you write a fic as Joss intended it. If it helps, pretend your fic has to be acted out by the cast and watch if it would work and be accepted by the fans. Something like that :).
Funniest fic: This, too, can be any kind of fic, as long as it's funny. I don't care if it's sarcasm, dry humour or that typical Joss-wit, as long as the basic storyline is somewhat of a 'comedy'.
