| FALL... | |||||||||||||||||||||
| I hope you're enjoying the beautiful Fall weather--when the leaves began changing colors, etc. I remember this time of year as a child, walking barefoot in the rural community of Joiner, Arkansas, and also picking up Pecans and Hickory nuts, gathering Peanuts and our Sweet Potato patch...and don't forget picking Cotton. Seemingly, everything was centered around gathering in the perishables against the coming winter, when we could sit around the warmth of the old wood stoves and rest from all our labor: the preparing of the ground, the planting of the seed, cutting down of the weeds, grass and other undesirables that would choke the precious plants, and finally harvest or ingathering. Enough of the natural, in the spiritual, the Lord prepared the ground of our hearts in that Hhe created a hunger for Him and truth. And one day He planted the wonderful seed of the Gospel in our ground, and a tender plant emerged from the ground. Thank the Lord, that plant has been watered to the extent that it's grown considerably and has put on some fruit; maybe not to perfection, but we're not what we used to be and we're starting to look and behave like Jesus. One day, the harvest will come and Jesus will thrust in His sickle (threshing instrument) and will reap the earth. Jesus isn't coming for Peanuts, Sweet Potatoes, Pecans, or Cotton, but for the treasure hid in this field, (this world). The treasure is the souls of men and women. The most precious thing in the earth realm is not the buildings, or great temples, automobiles, bank accounts, or any such like, but it's us.....Christ in us, the Hope of Glory. We long to see you, that possibly we could impart some spiritual gift that would further establish you. Come visit us. Until then, may God bless you and yours in Jesus name. Enjoy the Fall, gather all the fruit you can, because we know that winter is coming. Yours for His sake, Bro. David Coleman |
