Stanley, Carl, Betty Jean, Hanus and Edna, Jim    Nov 1982   Hanus and Edna at their home in Ree-Heights   ca 1990

Edna Marie Kuper, b. Jun 18, 1922 on the farm near Faulkton;  married Johannes Iverson, (b. 17 May, 1909 at Spölbek, Germany to Andreas Peter and Botilde Petersen Iverson) at the Kuper home place south of Harrold, SD. They farmed and ranched near Ree Heights most of their lives, retiring to Ree Heights.

Hanus came to the United States 28 Apr 1928, on the ship Elberbollon to New York and by train to Ree Heights to live with his uncle, Bendix Peter Iverson. Ben had come to America in 1908; farmed, never married and is buried in the Ree Heights cemetery.

During the "Dirty Thirties" Hanus worked on a farm north of Phillip hand-picking corn for 2 1/2 - 3 cents a bushel, using a team and buggy. He returned to Uncle Ben's to farm with him and continued to live there until moving into Ree Heights 12 Oct 1968.  After retiring and moving to town they seemed to find too much time on their hands so they purchased Iverson's Tavern 2 Feb 1977. The entire community enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, the pool table and card table. The coffee pot was always on and ( if memory serves me right) there was a coffee can on the table where quarters were dropped in to pay for the coffee. Everyone served themselves.

Hanus became a US citizen in 1954 at Huron.
