Eberhard Kuper and Agnes Sprenger, both immigrants from Germany, were married April 15, 1884, at Rock Island, ILL and later settled on a farm northeast of Orient, Faulk County, South Dakota (somewhere between 1881 and 1885) . They were the parents of four sons and four daughters. Two of their daughters died young; one as the result of a bout with typhoid fever and the other from being kicked by a horse. Both daughters are buried in the Catholic cemetery at Polo, Hand County, SD.
After the passing of their mother (Agnes) in 1900, Abehard remarried to a woman by the name of        Baker, bringing to the family a son, Frank Baker. A half-brother, Ferdinand, was born to Eberhard and his new wife on                     at                     .
After the passing of his father in 1909, Joe went to live with a Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gooder on their farm near Orient. He attended school through the fourth grade, quitting to help on the farm. Joe grew to be 6'1" in his manhood.

2006 - From Martha Kuper, wife of Jerome, daughter-in-law of Henry

I just got a copy of a marriage license from Illinois for Eberhard Kuper and Agnes Springer.  Eberhard's father's name was Arnold Kuper and his mother's name was Elizabeth, but I can't read the last name.  It looks like Ingleberry.  Maybe the b is a h or a k or maybe it is inglebeery.  I am just guessing.  It was a second marriage for both.  Agnes's maiden name was Springer and her married name looks like Pecker.  Her father was Yorick Springer and her mother was Teressa Hienger or something like that.  I can't really read her last name either.    Do any of these names ring a bell? I just sent for Eberhard's naturalization papers today.  Maybe it will tell me where in Germany they came from.  It is suppose to take about a month to get them.  I will let you know when I hear anything.

1930 census says John has 2 step daughter's. Jerome says when John married Kate he was looked down on because Kate was not catholic. So he quit "The Church". It says John had a daughter Dorthy E Kuper who was 19. I think Joh and Kate were both married before they married each other.
