Though an idyllic world of flowing oceans and grassy
plains, the peaceful planet of Naboo saw its fair share
of troubles, from the abdication of King Veruna, through
the Trade Federation's blockade, to the Clone Wars -
yet it has remained a center of tranquility throughout.

Located near to the border of the Outer Rim, the
sovereign world of Naboo was a beautiful planet, home
to a refined, peaceable culture. As well as the Naboo
people, the planet was home also to the Gungans, an
amphibious race which lived in vast bubble villages,
submerged in Naboo's many oceans. The ocean
depths travelled all the way into Naboo's watery
honeycomb-like core, which was littered with many caves - and deadly sea creatures. Travelling through Naboo's core was a risky business, though if one were in a hurry, the risk may just have been worth it.

On the surface, things were decidedly less dangerous. The Naboo led an amiable life, ruled by a monarchy staunchly loyal to the Republic and its democracy. However, the Naboo were not on the best of terms with the Gungans. Through a troublesome history between the planet's two major species, the Naboo and the Gungans avoided each other, preferring to live their own, different lives. While the Gungans used natural means to create their technology, the Naboo relied on machines as much as other Rimward planets, for transport, security and labour. The refinement of the Naboo culture bled through into their machines, which sported a clean, artistic design. However, Naboo's small security force and lack of real defenses left its people in dire straits when the Trade Federation - protesting about the taxation to trade routes for outlying worlds - blockaded the planet.

The Neimoidian battleships, tanks and droid soldiers were too powerful for Naboo's foot soldiers, security volunteers and military speeders, and the planet was duly invaded. Luckily for the Naboo, Queen Amidala managed to take back her palace in Theed, the capital, as well as unite the Naboo and the Gungans after years of seperation. After that terrible crisis, the Naboo began to upgrade their defenses - and even incorporated organic Gungan designs into some. They even constructed spaceports to cater for refugees fleeing the Core during the Seperatist crisis. Naboo prospered after a period of trouble in the Clone Wars, though its people, who had already seen too much fighting, stayed out of the Galactic Civil War, remaining at peace on their world of beauty.
