Naboo and its porus, plasma-filled core had long been
an enigma to scientists. The unique world had a long
and diverse history, though many of its secrets were
never truly explained.

Early on in Gungan history, an unknown race drove
the Gungan species underwater after a fierce struggle.
There, the Gungans discovered how to harness the
plasma under Naboo's surface, and began to create
a vast underwater civilization. The other race, however,
died out - later, the only explaination the Naboo and the
Gungans could give was that the race did not respect their planet, and refused to live in harmony with it.

However, the Naboo and the Gungans did not live in peace for many centuries. When Naboo was first colonized by materialist explorers from Grizmallt, they became embroiled in battle with the nature-loving Gungans. Animosity between the two races led them to lead two very different lives. The colonists of Naboo created a monarchy, and began to build beautiful cities on their new world. The Gungans, too, created a new city: Otoh Gunga, which was built to join the various Gungan tribes together. However, they would still not join with the Naboo.

This attitude was changed with the Battle of Naboo, where Naboo Queen Amidala and Gungan General Jar Jar Binks united the two species against a common enemy; the Trade Federation. They battled together to save their planet, and eventually won peace and freedom, marking a new era in Naboo's history. The two cultures bega to merge; the Naboo incorporated Gungan designs into their creations, and Gungans were free to live among the Naboo.

The damage caused during the Trade Federation invasion caused redevelopment for the Naboo and the Gungans. In the City of Theed, a new Grand Plaza was built in front of the palace, where the Naboo could converse and marvel at the city's beauty, and Gungans could feel at home amidst fountains and a moat encircling the plaza. New construction was also required thanks to the shifting tides in the Republic. The Seperatist crisis brought panic to many of the Republic's citizens, who began to flee the Core Worlds for more remote locations. The Naboo created grand spaceports to take in the refugees, and also immigrants seeking mining work on the planet's spice-rich moons. One of these moons, Ohma-D'un, was colonized by the Gungans, showing just how far the species of Naboo had progressed from their war-like roots.
Three YT-1300 freighters can be seen at the Naboo spaceport, as can an Action-IV transport. These ships are the models of the Millennium Falcon and the Wild Karrde respectively
