| Like many other Jedi, Anakin Skywalker fought for the Republic in the Clone Wars. As with other Jedi, he was given an army rank - of Lieutenant to Obi-Wan's General - and many dangerous missions to halt the Confederate war machine. One of the first battles Anakin participated in after Geonosis was on the icy world of Rhen Var, where Anakin helped defend a Republic outpost evacuate from a large Confederate invasion force. Though the planet was taken by the Seperatists, Anakin later returned there to locate the tomb of Ulic Qel-Droma. Count Dooku was reassembling an ancient Sith weapon called the Dark Reaper, which Ulic had defeated millennia ago. Anakin took his advice, but did not heed his warnings concerning the dark side. Anakin was able to defend against the Dark Reaper's effects with the techniques Ulic had taught him, and was sucessful in destroying the weapon before it could be unleashed on the Republic. Anakin fought in many battles, from attacking a Confederate base on Thule, through destroying droid factories on Metalorn to defending the cloning facilities on Kamino. When his wife's homeplanet became a target in the Wars, Anakin also helped defend Naboo. He came up against the bounty hunter Durge, while Obi-Wan faced off against the Dark Jedi, Asajj Ventress. The enemies of the Republic escaped, but Anakin and Obi-Wan managed to save Naboo. With his skill and power, Anakin survived the three years of fighting, though he came up against many more challenges during the Wars. He had also developed a hatred of Dooku - the man who had cost him his right arm. He sought revenge on the Count, remenbering all too well his defeat on Geonosis - but he did not seem to realise it was the recklessness driving his revenge that also caused his loss at the start of the war. Anakin found Dooku on a number of occasions, but was still not ready to defeat him. However, his powers were growing still. The day would come when Anakin woud have his vengeance. |
