Stating its diplomatic neutrality with a striking red hull and a lack of weapons, the Republic Cruiser is the ideal vessel for transporting ambassadors to mediate a conflict...but if negotiations go awry and the lasers start flying, the ship is a prime target, as the crew of the
Radiant VII found out - the hard way.
Intended to carry politicians across the galaxy, the Corellian-made Republic Cruiser has many features to aid in diplomatic maneuverings; salon pods are used to carry out high-level negotiations - and can be jettisoned to safety if the ship is under attack - and other rooms and lounges are available to negotiators and ambassadors of all species. In order to ensure its neutral stance, the cruiser carries no armaments - only sturdy deflector shields and a powerful hyperdrive can be used to defend the craft.
    The Republic Cruiser which carried
Jedi ambassadors Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi to negotiate the blockade of Naboo was the Radiant VII, and had been in service with Coruscant's diplomatic corps for 34 years. Once the Jedi had gone to wait for the trade viceory, Sith Lord Darth Sidious ordered the ship destroyed. Before the pilots could even bring the shields online, a burst of turbolaer fire to the cockpit destroyed the ship.
