A tri-winged personnel transport for the Galactic Empire, the Lambda-class shuttle was responsible for ferrying the most important beings in the galaxy - such as Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine - across the galaxy in safety. Though Sienar Fleet Systems created the standard Imperial shuttle, their subcontractor, Cygnus Spaceworks, developed a combat-ready variation with double the firepower. There was also a custom Lambda shuttle, used exclusively by Emperor Palpatine, though its exact design specifications remained classified. However, rumour had it that the shuttle possessed a prototypical cloaking shield. Still, certain elements were retained in all versions; while the central wing was fixed in place, the flanking wings lowered so they were diagonal to the craft in flight. The wings raised when the shuttle was landing, where its gear landing system was deployed. The shuttle did not need a third leg due to the weight of the power core and hyperspace motivator unit at the back end of the ship. A landing ramp was deployed underneath the cockpit. As well as being a mainstay of the Empire, one Lambda-class shuttle found its way into the hands of the Rebellion. The shuttle Tyderium was then used in an attack against the second Death Star. Using old Imperial codes the Rebels hoped were not out of date, the Tyderium would be able to bypass the shield generator surrounding the moon of Endor. The plan worked, and a strike team was able to land on the moon and knock out the shield generator protecting the unfinished Death Star. |
