The fastest racer at the Boonta Eve Classic, Anakin Skywalker's podracer helped him win the race and his freedom, even beating his arch-rival, Sebulba. The very same racer was later sold to that very same Dug, who used it to win back his pride.
Anakin worked on the podracer in secret for some time, though he considered it a fun hobby rather than a serious racer. He salvaged spare parts from Watto's junk yard, building up his pod piece by piece, until he had it up and running just prior to the Boonta race. Though the Radon-Ulzer 620C engines the pod was built around were more than capable of producing top speeds, Anakin modified his pet project further, until it could reach in excess of 950 kilometers per hour.
After Anakin won the Boonta race, Qui-Gon Jinn sold the podracer to Sebulba, whose own pod had been destroyed when the cables on Sebulba and Anakin's pods tangled in mid-air. The wily Dug painted his new racer in his trademark orange, then used it to reclaim his position as the best racer on the Outer Rim. |
