Subject: some pics of sherwood from 12 years ago
hi ! everyone,
this is my first post to the sherwood unified group. (used to be active on the osmumbai and sherwoodcollege group earlier). just as a brief intro... I was in sherwood from 88 to 90 (ISC) in F.T., the 3rd (or fourth, dont remember) batch of girls in sherwood then. previously i was in all'c from 84 to 88. My brother - somnath, studied longer though, from class II uptil 10th. he's now in Univ of Rochester, upstate NY. I'm in Mumbai, working in HR in a software firm of the Aditya Birla Group.
Would like to thank Sohal (who also happens to be my batchmate), for doing a fantastic job of bringing together all OS, past and present, young and old. It feels good to hear fond remembrances as well as critiques from so many quarters.
I was recently scanning some pictures and came across some picture postcards of sherwood and all'c that were done by the photographer, Bhupinder, in 88 or 89. i'm sure all who were there at the time would have copies, but i thought i'll nevertheless send it in here for those who may not have seen these pictures. Its been 8 years since i last visited sherwood over founders...i wonder if there are any familiar faces there now. from what i hear, most of the teachers i knew are retired now or have left.
the mumbai os are quite active thanks to the sterling efforts of Ranjit RalliaRam, who goads us all on with his enthusiasm. i hope the meet on this 15th sees a good turnout of OS.
Cheers! and have a great day!

Hi Sohal,
This is Gaurav Gupta from the batch of 1990 (that makes it out batch)
Yup...it was a wonderful experience watching the Sherwood Play,
sitting in the company of Ex Sherwoodians and having the time of our
lives. The show was sponsored by Star T.V and they had distributed
some passes to some school chilren etc. There was a lot of cheering
going on with Sherwood...Sherwood...ra..ra..ra happening all over the
place and the Sherwood Clap at the end of every Act, the setting was
more like founders. Quite a few people were left wondering who we
were. At this opportunity I would like to mention that this event
would not have been possible without the efforts of Dilip Tahil and
Mr.Ranjit Ralliraman who selflessly worked towards making the play
and dinner a successful event.
Also Mr. Mountford presented the Lifetime Sherwoodian Award (I hope I
have the award name correct) to Amitabh Bachhan at this setting and
when Dilip Tahil announced the donation on behalf of Mr. Bachhan
there was a spontaneous Sherwood Clap, that lasted quite a while.
The Play was followed by dinner at Golden Orchid in Bandra and the
party ended at about 3.30 a.m. Kabir Bedi, Vivek Mushran and Dilip
Tahil were there for the dinner and the Dilip Tahil stayed till the
end. The play and the dinner was filmed by B4U channel and I
understand they showed a 30 minute clip...though I missed that.
Well from our batch there was Naresh Jain, Siddharth Khare, Mona
Dutta and quite a few juniors as well as seniors. Some of the
photograps that Mona took with her camera she posted on the yahoo
groups Sherwood College Batch of 1990 site.. they are present in the
photos folder...i think you will be able to access the folder,
extract the snaps and post them on Sherwood Unified group.
Thats all for now.
Gaurav

Subject: The get together held in 2001in Bombay / Mumbai
Hi Guys,
All I have to say about the get together in October 2001
is that it was a night to remember.
We had the time of our lives and it was really great to
meet up with the youngsters who I must say are doing well
for themselves and more importantly are well behaved and
respectful of their elders. I felt so embarassed when they
kept addressing us seniors as Sir, and inspite of our
requests, they were insistent. They made me feel so proud
of Sherwood.
In 2001 Dalip Tahil from the class of 1969 was the chief
guest at Founders. While he was there he was appaled at the
lack of facilities for the dramatics society and thus the
idea was born to organise a play conducted by sherwoodians,
to raise funds specifically earmarked for the dramatics society.
Once Amitabh consented to be the chief guest, STAR TV stepped
in and agreed to sponsor the event. The rest is history. All
the sherwoodians chipped in, and there was no lack of support
from any quarter. I was personally thrilled to meet up with
Prem Nath Dhawan from the class of 1968) Rajiv Kapoor ( from
the class of 1970) and my good old friend Hariraj Singh ( from
the class of 1973). Like I mentioned it was great meeting up
with the youngsters and the party went on till 3.30 a.m.
Kabir Bedi's son Adam Bedi too was there and he thoroughly
enjoyed himself. It was also great meeting up with Mr. Thappa's
daughters ( who were tiny tots) when we passed out. It was an
evening to remember and , as has already been mentioned Mr.Bachhan
donated Rs. 11 lakhs to the dramatics society of sherwood.
We next meet on June 15th and I urge every sherwoodian from
Mumbai to be present.
Cheers,
Ranjit RalliaRam
class of 1971
