The American People must wake-up and realize that WAR is a FOR-PROFIT enterprise. There is no money in PEACE. The Military Industrial Complex (M.I.C.) is alive and doing very well.
It seems to me that the media is reporting that the Middle East Peace Talks at Camp David failed because there was no meeting of the minds between Mr. Barak and Mr. Arafat on the issue of control in Jerusalem. I observed the process along with the rest of my fellow Americans through the media. I can only offer my opinion from the vantage point of a concerned citizen and a layman. I do not claim any expertise or experience in the fields of negotiations or Middle Eastern politics.
Now, with that said, I would like to state that I believe after watching this process at Camp David that the whole thing was nothing more than a game of charades. It doesn't seem like either side was really going into the talks with the intent of making a peace treaty. As a matter of fact it seemed like both sides were masquerading as world class peace makers, and both were at the top of their games.
Common sense tells most Americans that neither side in this conflict would risk losing the enormous amounts of money they are being given at the American taxpayer's expense. As a matter of fact it seems that both sides would feel it is in their best interest to continue with the facade of making peace because it placates those that are giving them enormous amounts of money. If they ever did achieve peace...how would they replace the enormous amounts of money that they have been getting for years? It is within the realm of possibilities that the leaders in the Middle East are willing to continue to let their people die in order to continue the flow of an enormous income into their coffers... which we call foreign aid. How would they replace this enormous amount of money if they were at Peace? And isn't the governments that continue to support them just as guilty of the deaths of the people in the Middle East; when they know that the true motives for continuing the conflict is to ensure the continued flow of an enormous amount of money into the region?
If they are really ready to make a deal for peace, and the only issue that is keeping them from achieving this goal, is the issue of who will control Jerusalem; then it seems that both sides should at least be willing to allow Jerusalem to become a neutral territory. The DMZ in Korea would serve as an excellent model for this type of an accord. And since it was the UN that originally partitioned the area in May of 1948, then it should be the responsibility of the UN to maintain Jerusalem as a neutral territory, and the Israelis and Palestinians would have to look elsewhere for their capitols. If they cannot agree on something as mutually beneficial as this type of a proposal, then their true intentions must remain obvious, and their motives must forever remain suspect!
