The idea of creating an ensemble belongs to Mykola Yakovenko, who organized a children choreography studio in 1983.
As children grew, as did their skills, the studio emerged into an ensemble with M. Yakovenko as its art director.
Now the ensemble consists of 16 couples of dancers and the vocal quartet.
A younger generation of dancers study choreography in the children studio, which is attended by about 300 children.
The ensemble pursues the policy of preparing its own dancers, rather than looking for them outside.
The teaching staff consists of the teachers of the faculty of choreography of Rivne liberal arts university and the best graduates of this faculty.
The high level of teaching in the ensemble is confirmed by the fact that many of its paricipants later become choreography students at the university.

Much attention was given to the
ensemble by the labor union and the administration of the local chemical
enterprise "Azot". Thanks to them costumes for the ensemble's concerts
were ordered in the best wardrobe shops of Ukraine. The labor union also
initiated, organized, and sponsored "Krynychenka's" performing tours abroad.
Performing in Austria (Graz), Bielorussia (Grodno), Bulgaria (Vidin), France (Issouire), Greece, Poland (Lublin, Katowice), and Turkey (Yalova, Bursa) "Krynychenka" was
always among laureates of different festivals. The ensemble's girls became
the "Miss of the Festival". Articles in newspapers about festivals, where "Krynychenka" participated, had headlines "Ukraine--bravo!", "Ukrainian troupe takes spectators' breath away!", "Ukrainian group--no words!".
|
The ensemble also conducts a very broad concert activity in Ukraine.
The most prestigious stages of the country -- Lviv Opera Theater, International Center of Culture and Arts (Kyiv), National Palace "Ukraine" (Kyiv) -- saw "Krynychenka" performances. The concert program of the ensemble were met with enthusiastic applauses in many cities and towns of Ukraine, it is often shown on the national TV. Pictures of the ensemble were featured in the newly published photoalbum "Rivnenshchyna", and "Krynychenka" was the only dance group invited to participate in the presentation ceremony of this album.

"Krynychenka" is the laureate of
last republican festivals of folk art, the diploma-winner of the First
All Ukrainian contest of folk dance ensembles in 1992. For high choreography
skills, scenic culture, rich and diverse repertoire in 1988 the ensemble was given the title "Exemplery", and in the January, 1992 ,-- "National". The director was awarded with the Cerificate of Excellence
of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Ukraine. Participation in all kinds of festivals and contests has always been a priority of the artistic direction of the ensemble because it aids considerably to perfection of the dancers' skills. Exchange of experience is viewed as one of the most important factors in the process of the constant professional growth. Especially good relations in this respect were established with the Honored dance ensemble of Ukraine "Yatran", Kirovograd.

The repertoire of the ensemble is composed
in such a way, so that spectators could have as full, as possible an understanding
of customs, way of life, and dancing art of the Ukrainian people. "Krynychenka"
does not copy the folklore material, but with its help enriches the folk
sceme of dancing with new features. For 15 years of work more than
20 dances have been produced, based on the folklore material from different
regions of Ukraine. Among spectators' favourites are "Varvarka" from Podillia,
"Horianka" and "Rahivchanka" form the Carpathian Mountains, polka "Volynianka",
"Bukovynskyi Celebratory" from Bukovyna, lyrycal "Vesnianka" and "Podolianochka",
maidens' dance "Clappers", comic dances "Cheerful Fifers" and "Three Fellows",
world famous "Hopak" with stunning stunts. The ensemble also included in
its program dances of other peoples--Russian folk dance, Bielorussian polka,
Hungarian "Chardash", Moldavian "Hora and Syrba", Bulgarian folk dance.
