PROCESS

  1. First you will each pair up with the partner of your choice.  Decide between the two of you which person will be the  digger of information and which student will be the recorder.  Both students will be expected to work together to write the finished ad.

  2. Once you have decided who is going to do which task, then examining the links provided, the two of you will do some research into figurative language, propaganda, and persuasive writing.  See what is required of you under your chosen role.

  3. Then, both of you are to find between 10 and 15 other web sites that are useful in learning more about figurative language.  Use the search engines that I have listed in resources to find what you need.

  4. After your research, you and your partner will examine the ad that is written up under resources concerning a used car.  You are expected to translate the figurative language of the used car ad so that you get a more accurate description of what the used vehicle looks like.

  5. Then, both of you are to come up with a drawing that you feel best represents the car that the used car ad describes.

  6. Once you have created a drawing that you both feel accurately depicts the ad, then you will look at the car that the ad actually described and write a one-page paper describing the differences between your drawing and the one that was used to write the original ad.  Go to the link, Picture of Used Car on the resources page.

  7. The one-page paper will answer  the question listed below the picture on that page.

  8. After all of the aforementioned practice, you will combine your efforts into creating a one-paged ad in a newspaper persuading a potential home buyer to purchase the home you are selling.  The picture of the haunted home is in the resources link of this Web Quest.

  9. Finally, you will each individually write a minimum of two pages on what you thought of this assignment and what you learned by doing this web quest.
