About Me
A good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge.
Hi… I am Krishna Nagaraj, for my close friends Guru, benne Krishna, kisna, kishna, kittanna etc. I was born in Shimoga, well known Malenaadu district in Karnataka. My father was a lecturer, mother house wife and I have one elder sister. I was brought up in sweet home Krishna Geetha, (being the youngest member of the joint family) with loving grand mother, aunties, uncles and cousins. I was given a lot of extra love, attention and care from them, being the naughtiest of all in the family. I started my schooling in Sharada Shishuvihara, then 1st standard to 7th standard in Sarvodaya Higher primery School. 8th std to 10th in DVS composite pre university high school section, then PUC in the same college. I completed my Bachelors degree in computer science from SRNM college Shimoga.
Most memorable events of my childhood that I would like to share are...
Joint family life..
Midterm and summer holidays were full of excitement... As I was the youngest in the grand children group, bigger kids always used to treat me and also one of my cousin as too small and trying to avoid us from all the games and other activities in the beginning. Later on we also joined them. Nehru Stadium (in Shimoga) was close to our house and a chaat shop near by. Collecting money from parents, all of us used to go to the stadium, play for a long time, then having bhel puri, toffees etc. Two of my uncle houses were in Shimoga, so night dinner having in one of their houses, we used to enjoy a lot together. Especially in the summer afternoon, almost every day ice cream from a street ice cream seller, then Guava fruits, mango, little sour oranges etc… for sure nothing can match that taste.
Christmas gifts…
My mom used to bring surprise gifts, the day before Christmas and hide. Early in the morning, my self and my sister used to search for our gift.
My mom wanted to record the rhymes and songs, but rarely did we have good mood to sing for that, some how she managed to get it recorded. We have recorded voices of our childhood that makes us laugh whenever we hear that.
My father had a transferrable job, weekdays he used to be busy in his work and travel, but weekends were really memorable with him. He used to take me, my sister and cousins to woodlands, Sanmaan or Satkar hotel.. After the annual exams, we always had an ice cream party at Panchatara, even now I feel those were the tastiest ice creams I ever had.
I was in scouts and attended few scout camp, for those were the days when I really missed my mom. I went to very few school trips. I was a bit reserve natured and rarely used to mingle with school friends.
We had a joint house, our neighbours /tenents were really nice people, most of the time I used to be in their house, calling uncle as Appamama, and Shakku aunty, that time I learnt fluent Tulu language(but later forgot successfully...)
We shifted to Urgadur area when I was 14 years, school was about 5km from home. All the way I used to ride a good old bicycle (in fact it was my father's cycle, for him my grand father had gifted, that my cousins also used for more than 5years, still it was in good condition.. you can call it as Khaandaani bicycle also) It was the best time for our family. We started to construct a new house just nearby our rented house. With so much care and love, we did Gruhapravesham of our new home Sumana and got shifted. We family members only managed to paint the walls, doors and grills. During foundation, construction, even while digging bore well, placing main door, for almost all important stages, we used to call our cousins and neighbours and for sure, small function used to be there. With lots of fun and nice things to eat, those days are really memorable.
With the old cycle, we friends went to lion safari, Gajanuru dam. During holidays, we played Antaakshari, cricket, shuttle, football etc. Urgadur locality, unlike city areas, even now is so calm and with lot of free space for playing.
Since my earliest school days I have been interested in the pursuit of knowledge and truth, a search which was inspired by my parents and enhanced by my teachers. This has stayed with me into adult life, and I now find myself realizing the importance and beauty of such ideas and principles. My aim therefore is to develop this approach to life and to share it with others through everything I do. In terms of work, this means motivating and encouraging others by my own positive example, doing my best in everything, and never being afraid to say “I don't know”. Rather, I hope to inspire a creative and positive way of dealing with the various problems that are a part of everyone's lives.
