Thursday, October 9th, 2002; Ok guys, the following news come from Unfold Before You ... Chantal Kreviazuk so I URGE you to check out that great site that is amazingly kept up by Marcelina. She updates it almost daily, unlike the near-crappy job I do here. LOL! I might actually redo this site when the new album comes, anyway, the news. Chantal will be on Vicki Gabereau tomorrow (Thursday) as one of her guests on CTV so check your local listings for that and tell me how she done if she performs and what kinda stuff they talk about because I don't have a TV ;o-). Now, there's more news too. Chantal shot the video to 'In This Life' because MuchMoreMusic interviewed her on the set of the video shoot. I didn't see it myself but this news is on Marcelina's website so check that out for more info. YAY!!! When I update this place, I hope to have some new pictures and all that too so... next month hopefully. Sunday, September 15th, 2002; Chantal's new release hit radios in Canada about two weeks ago and it's getting airplay throughout now. You can call your local station and request 'In This Life' right now. Chantal's new CD hits stores November 19th in Canada and so far, some confirmed tracks are 'Waiting', featuring Michelle Branch, the title track 'What If It All Means Something', 'Brenda's Song', the first release 'In This Life' as well as 'Morning Light', 'Miss April' and 'Julia'. Chantal's new CD will be her third release overall but this time, she's doing a little transformation. She'll be the artist formerly known as Chantal Kreviazuk, as in, she's dropping the last name and she'll be just Chantal. Radio stations are calling her Chantal when they play her new song so that kind of makes it official. Check out her official website as it gets a facelift. Monday, August 11th, 2002; Chantal's song 'In My Life' is on the Providence Soundtrack that was released last Tuesday. That marks her fourth soundtrack appearance this year after 'Leading Me Home' (Men With Brooms), 'Far Away' (Felicity), 'Another Small Adventure' (Stuart Little 2) and 'In My Life' (Providence). In addition to Chantal, there are songs from other artists including Shawn Colvin, who has shared songs on four soundtracks with Chantal. Armageddon, Serendipity, Stuart Little 2 and Providence. Chantal is taking part in a concert in Vancouver to help against the fight against cancer that will feature other Canadian artists Sarah McLachlan, Barenaked Ladies, Bryan Adams and Jann Arden. Monday, July 15th, 2002; New news regarding both Chantal's new album and the song appearing on Stuart Little 2 Soundtrack (OUT TOMORROW) The song 'Another Small Adventure' was written by Chantal and Raine specifically for the movie. So that answers the question about who wrote it. Chantal's CD is tentitively titled 'What If It All Means Something' and is due out in Canada in late October while the US will see either a simultaneous or a January/February release. Tuesday, June 25th, 2002; There's more news about Chantal's new CD. Chantal recently recorded in the studio with Michelle Branch on a track called 'Waiting' for Chantal's upcoming CD which is said to be due out by the end of this year or early 2003. Which would lead us to believe that it is already recorded and could be finished soon. Also on that site was info that he mixed three tracks from the Stuart Little 2 Soundtrack, due out in July. I can't believe it's been so long since I last updated here! Let's see, since the last update, Chantal has had a new song on the Men With Brooms Soundtrack which also features new music from Holly McNarland, Tragically Hip as well as the hit from Sarah Harmer with the Hip called 'Silver Road'. Chantal's song is track 11 called 'Leading Me Home' and it was written by her and Raine, who's band Our Lady Peace is also on the CD with 'Life'. Chantal's birthday is next week and she'll be 29! Thursday, July 26th, 2001; Since the last update, Chantal has went on a Canada-wide tour and I was honoured to be an audience member at her first show in St John's, Newfoundland. A terrific show!! I've been kept busy so this site was put on the back burner but I'll continue to update it with any new happenings from Chantal. At the show, she did discuss a new album and that she's writing for it. Hopefully, she'll have it finished very soon. Wednesday, April 18th, 2001; Some good news to report! First off, Congrats to 'Colour Moving And Still' for going Double Platinum in Canada. It solded over 200 000 copies since it's release in October 1999. I'm also really happy to announce that Chantal will be embarking on a Canada wide tour soon! Details have yet to be released but come back here to find out!!! Chantal's Official Site Wednesday, March 29th, 2001; The latest on the 'Before You' news is that it is approximently #47 on the Gavin Hot AC Chart. Click Here to see that it is gaining and since it's such a great song, expect it to be in the Top 40 soon! Wednesday, March 7th, 2001; According to hitmakers.com, 'Before You' is the third most added song on Hot AC stations in the U.S. Meaning it is getting a lot of new airplay and could appear on Hot AC charts in the new future if airplay picks up. Monday, February 5th, 2001; Chantal's hit 'Before You' now appears on the third compilation so far this year. The huge single from 1999 appears on the second boxed set of Canadian Classics 'Oh! What A Feeling!' Vol 2. It's on Disc 1 alongside Alanis Morissette's 'Thank U', Sarah McLachlan's 'Building A Mystery' and hits by Deborah Cox, Chocliar, Jann Arden and more. It's worthwhile to pick this great 4 CD Box set when it hits stores on the 20th of this month. You get 80+ songs for about $40!! Wednesday, January 31st, 2001; After a bit of time away, Colour Moving And Chantal returns with a new home and a new design although the address still remains the same. http://chantalkreviazuk.cjb.net. 'Far Away' is riding high on charts all over. On the Canadian Airplay Charts the single recently re-entered the Top 50 and is still on the rise and at Charts Central, it was the biggest mover from 47-16. The video is also rising up the MuchMoreMusic Countdown. Thursday, December 7th, 2000; After dropping off the Canadian Airplay Charts with 'Souls' a couple weeks ago, Chantal returns at #98 with her new song 'Far Away'. Keep requesting it!! Chantal appears on two new CDs in stores for Christmas. One is called Sisters that features songs by Amanda Marshall, Celine Dion, Melanie Doane, B*Witched, Jennifer Lopez, Destiny's Child and more. And she also appears on the cover of Woman & Songs 5 with Faith Hill. That CD features Madonna, The Corrs, Tara McLean, Whitney Houston, Tracy Chapman, Natalie Imbruglia, among others. The song that appears on both is 'Before You'!! Chantal is turning to acting. Alongside her husband Raine, watch for the movie 'Century Hotel' sometime next year. Monday, November 20th 2000; The CD is over a year old but it is still releasing songs. The fourth single from 'Colour Moving And Still' can now be heard on the radio. It's Track #8 'Far Away'. If your station isn't playing it, email or phone them and request it! In a recent chat courtesy of Jam! Music, Chantal may have a video for this. No info is given about this yet but it's possible! Thursday, November 2nd 2000; On October 5th, 'Colour Moving And Still' turned one year old!! Happy Birthday to one of the best CDs ever made!! Chantal Kreviazuk is opening for the Barenaked Ladies on an all Canadian tour starting in February 2001. The BNLs, who are famous for songs like 'If I Had $1 000 000', 'Jane', 'Brian Wilson', 'One Week' and their latest 'Pinch Me' hit big stateside in late 1998 with a Top 5 CD on the Billboard Top 200 and had 4 big hits in the U.S. Check out Chantal and the Barenaked Ladies when they come to your town. Sunday, September 24th 2000; Chantal and her husband, Raine Maida, recently won a SOCAN award for the writing of 'Dear Life'. That is a top honour in Canada for the top songs. Congradulations!!!
Wednesday, September 13th 2000; Chantal's new radio hit may possibly be 'Far Away'. Since 'Souls' is only now taking off, but possibly slowing down. Listen for 'Far Away' within the next month...!! Saturday, September 9th 2000; Chantal will be singing both the Canadian and American national anthems in NYC on October 11th when the New York Islanders face the Calgary Flames. Watch the game AND Chantal perform on Fox or CTV. Chantal is also helping find a cure for AIDS. She will be featured in Entertainment Weekly, People OR Spin. It's not known quite yet which one, watch for her and support the worthy cause, 'Race For The Cure'! The latest Chatalaine has a feature on her that has been out since last month. Monday, August 21st 2000; For the first time ever, Chantal Kreviazuk has the biggest mover on the Globalchart at Charts Central. 'Souls' moves from #41 to #21 jumping over the peak of 'Dear Life' and getting closer to 'Before You's peak. All the competition of the hottest rock and pop songs didn't stand in Chantal's way and according to the commentary, she is getting help from personal charts by people from outside of Canada as well. The nominations for the 2000 MuchMusic Awards have been announced with Chantal picking up a total of 5. She is up for Best Video, Best Pop Video, Favourite Canadian Artist (People's choice), Favourite Canadian Video (People's choice), which also goes up against Our Lady Peace's 'Is Anybody Home', and the MuchMoreMusic Award. All nominations are for the video 'Before You'. Vote for Chantal by clicking http://www.muchmusic.com/events/mmva2000. Watch the show live on MuchMusic at 8pm ET on September 21st. Chantal also garnered 4 nominations for the 2000 Prairie Music Awards. She is nominated in Outstanding Entertainer, Outstanding Songwriter, Outstanding Pop Recording and Outstanding Major Label Album. The awards will be handed out October 1st at the Centenial Auditorium in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Other well known artists from the Prairies who are nominated are McMaster & James and Jann Arden. Wednesday, June 28th 2000; Watch CBC this Canada Day at 9:00pm et. to see Chantal performing along with other Canadian favourites Natalie McMaster, Bruce Cockburn, Roch Voisine and more. Watch the Canada Day Special, July 1st. (it's probably best to check your local listings for your time). On Tuesday, July 11th, Chantal sings the National Anthem at a Maojr League Baseball game hosted by the Atlanta Braves. Brandy will sing the American anthem. You can watch both Chantal and Brandy sing 8:30pm et on NBC. Friday, June 16th 2000; It's official, Chantal's next single is Souls, the third release from the 'Colour Moving And Still' CD which has sold over 150 000 copies in Canada!!! So far, Chantal has released 10 hit songs. The weird thing about Chantal and her music is that she's probably the most unknown-heard singer in North America with her songs on a couple complilations and soundtracks as well as always being featured on various TV Shows and of course, the Providence theme!! Monday, May 29th 2000; Chantal's CD 'Colour Moving And Still' has dropped down to it's lowest position since it debuted on the charts 32 weeks ago. In Canadian sales it is just below Jay Z's newest CD at #92. Hopefully, we will see a surge in sales soon and a chart entry in America. Monday, May 22nd 2000; It seems like Dawson's Creek can't get enough of Chantal Kreviazuk and her songs. They played yet another song from her new Cd 'Colour Moving And Still' on a recent new episode. The song was 'Little Things'. This marks at least 7 songs they've played by her on Dawson's Creek or Felecity!! Chantal Kreviazuk went to #1 on the MuchMoreMusic Countdown for the second time this past weekend. The second single from 'Colour Moving And Still' has just become her second consecutive #1 after 'Before You', the first release from the album. 'Dear Life' surpassed JackSoul, Toni Braxton and helped knock Sonique down to #5. Congradulations!!! Monday, May 3rd 2000; Chantal's CD 'Colour Moving And Still' was released in the U.S. on April 18th, 2000. This is her second CD released in the U.S. It is on the record label C2 (of Sony) which is the same label as Ricky Martin. Hopefully, we'll be seeing her on some charts soon!! The hit TV series Felicity played another one of Chantal's songs on the show this weekend, on April 30th, 2000, they played 'M'. Between that show and Dawson's Creek, Chantal Kreviazuk should be a hit in the states in no time!! Chantal will do the score to a silent film as part of the U.S. TV network's Turner's 'Classic Movies' series. This series is dedicated to woman who helped change the face of American Cinema. The series will be on the network in August. As of yet, there is no Canadian date planned. The movie Chantal is scoring is the 1912 film 'Cleopatra', one of only three films produced by Helen Gardner that are still around. Last night, Chantal Kreviazuk won two awards, Best Pop/Adult Album for her Platinum CD 'Colour Moving And Still' and beat out divas Alanis Morissette and Celine Dion for Best Female Artist. Thursday, February 24th 2000; 'Dear Life' is now added to stations all across the country and is already charting on the charts. Expect it to not do as good as 'Before You', considering that song was huge anyway. 'Dear Life' was probably a poor choice for a followup but we'll see what happens. Friday, February 4th 2000; Chantal was nominated for 2 Juno awards. First, Best Pop/Adult album for her criticly acclaimed CD 'Colour Moving And Still' where she goes up against Tal Bachman, Bryan Adams, Alanis Morissette and Joni Mitchell. Honestly, I think she has a fare chance but competition is tough. Her other nomination is Best Female Artist along with Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette, Amanda Marshall and Lynda Lemay. She also has a fare chance here too but competition is pretty fierce in this catorgory again this year. Tune on March 12th, on CBC for the award show where Chantal will perform!!!! Saturday, December 29th 1999; Chantal Kreviazuk performed her hit song 'Before You' for a taped show 'Voice Of A Child: The Foster Parents Plan Gala' where she was the first to sing. It aired on Monday December 27th on CITV and the Global Television Network. Keep your eyes and ears open for 'Dear Life' to hit radio airwaves and possibly a video will be filmed for it in the near future. We'll keep you posted.
