This one is probably much odder than the previous ones. I have no idea how LadyM and I came up with doing this one... It probably had something to do with our cold hands...
Before starting this section, a definition may be in order. Traditionally, a space heater is a piece of machinery which, when turned on with the proper settings, radiates hear to raise the temperature of a room. However, a SpaceHeater is any person who radiates a significant greater amount of heat than the average for the majority. This phenomenon generally occurs mainly in males (please see "XX vs XY" for more details).
Moving on, to test this phenomenon, one would place one’s hands on the subject’s shoulders. This is also very fun to do when one’s hands are freezing. The SpaceHeater spazzes out, and one’s hands get nice and warm.
Most teenage males are SpaceHeaters; one researcher had a grand time attempting to warm up her hands. It was a very cold day, and for some reason the heat she "borrowed" from her unwitting test subject seemed to disappear. She reports that his expression of long-suffering tolerance was very amusing.
