Government "Created" Jobs versus "Tax Cuts for the Rich"
By Ursus Trollkin

Okay, lets get one thing straight. Except in very limited circumstances, the government does not create jobs. The private sector creates jobs. All government can do is encourage the private sector to create jobs.

What brings this up? Well, the current gubernatorial race here in Virginia. Chock full of advertisements claiming how this candidate created jobs or will create jobs. That is all a load of bullshit. Plain and simple. The only way government creates jobs is when it hires people to perform services. Police, military, other services, not to mention bureaucrats in the various government offices are all examples of the limited areas in which the government is actually responsible for the creation of jobs.

The problem is where does the pay for these jobs come from? Taxes of course. And taxes are money we pay out of our income one way or another. So it is impossible for an economy to function with everyone working for the government.

No, true job creation, which is necessary for economic growth is accomplished by the private sector. You know, the much maligned "big business". And contrary to the apparent belief of those on the political left business exist to make money for the owners, not provide jobs.

If I invest my money to open a "widget" factory, I am not doing it because I want to hire a bunch of people. I am doing it because I hope to make a good return on my initial investment by making and selling widgets.

So how does government encourage the private sector to create jobs? Two words: tax cuts. Thats right, tax cuts. Those "tax cuts for the rich" that the leftists are always screaming about have created more jobs then twenty years of government programs. Why? How? Simple, contrary to Disneys image of Scrooge McDuck swimming in a giant bin full of money, most wealthy people do not sit on their money. They use it to make more money. They do this by investing it. By creating new businesses or expanding old ones. And when they do either one, they have to hire more employees. This is where middle and lower class folks find work. So if the "rich" have more money due to lower taxes, they are more likely to invest it in expanding or creating businesses, creating jobs.

So the next time the Main Stream Media starts going on about the "evil" tax cuts for the rich, just consider, you or someone you know probably owe your job to them.
