This rant is basically on the student body in its entirety. Some students who will be reading this at some point can disregard everything written here as it does not apply to them. I hate how lazy and apathetic the student body has gotten over the years. No one participates in spirit days of any kind, we have to really PUSH people to do anything with some sort of prize or compensation. Having a good night out with friends is just not enough anymore. I don't know whether they believe that they are just 'too cool' to do anything associated with the school or what but it is really irritating. The sales of everything have decreased significantly since I was in grade nine and it begs for the question as to why? New things are added for student involvement and to make school more enjoyable, but no one acts on them and then complains about how nothing is ever done for them. People complain about not being in the yearbook when they are not involved with anything and then complain again when they see that the band people are all over it. Yes, there are band people everywhere in the yearbooks, but it could also be because of the fact that band people get involved, more involved than going to classes on occasion and sitting in the bear pit. Extracurriculars are there not for the teachers enjoyment, but to make school a more enjoyable environment for everyone in the student body. Events are planned not for the teachers who are supervising it to have a good time, but for the students. If no one goes, then events don't happen leading to an unhappy student body. It is a catch twenty-two. No one will win if no one gets involved. Why have events for students when the don't even bother to make an effort to attend? Because, people complain. People should stop being so apathetic and do something, join something and show some spirit towards something other than your TV and computer.
