CHRISTMAS CRAFTS
These are just a few of some Christmas craft ideas that I have done myself, or have gotten off of the internet.  Most of them I have done either as a child, or with my own children.  I have found that doing projects like these with my kids is the best way to spend quality time with them.  Along with that, it lets them express themselves.  I find that doing these projects gets them to make up new creative project that they do on their own.
Candy-Cane Reindeers
Items that you will need:
A box of 12 - 24 candy canes
Bag of 12mm (or smaller)  wiggle eyes
Bag of small red pom poms
Bag of brown pipe cleaners
Glue
Note:  Most craft stores carry items listed above.
This is a very simple and fun project.  Makes the tree look a little more animated, or great for a gift tag addition.
First you will want to take a brown pipe cleaner and center it at the top of the arch of the candy cane.  Then you will want to twist the pipe cleaner tight around the candy cane.  Leaving the excess sticking up above the top of the candy cane.

Now we can glue the eyes and pom poms in place.  Choose out two eyes and place just a drop of glue on the backside of the wiggle eye and place it half way down the front arch of the candy cane.  Saving room for the pom pom nose.

You might want to give the glue on the eyes time to dry before attaching the nose.

Simply place a small drop of glue on one side of the pom pom and place it near the bottom of the candy cane arch.

After allowing ample time for all glue to dry we can now shape the antlers.
Separate the ends of the pipe cleaner that is sticking straight above the candy cane.  Now with one bend it down about 3/4 of it's own shaft.  Now take the section you just bent, and keeping the point up, grab the tip pointing down and pull it back up or out.  Basically here we are shaping the antlers.  So with the antlers, you can shape to your own desired affect.
Sparkling Christmas Ornaments
Here is a fun and challenging project.  A bit time consuming, but worth it, when you see the finished product.
This project is for the older kids..

SAFETY NOTE: This project requires the use of straight pins, so please make sure children have adult supervision at all times.
Items you will need:
Box of round styrophome ornament balls
(for added affect try it with the string colored balls)
Box of at least 500 straight pins
5-10 bags of assorted sequins (such as: red circles, gold stars, green trees)
The object of this project is to design your own christmas ornament.  Start by taking all the sequins and placing them in individual bowls or cups.

Now take a ornament ball and choose a sequin.  Take a straight pin and put it threw the hole of the sequin and push it into the ball in desired location.

Repeating that step until you have completed the ornament to your own satisfaction.
