April 2007 Most stupid comment heard on the radio: Tom Larscheid said about Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa, "Kevin Bieksa .... has already set career highs in goals, assists, points, games...." Well, duh, what a stupid comment. It's his 2nd NHL season, so obviously duh! Larscheid's a moron. Looking at craigslist just for fun, I see that in this world, women care only about two things: you have to be a professional and you have to be tall. How would this apply to me? Well, according to the postings I see there, I am pretty much a loser in everyone's eyes - being a teacher is a loser job, and being short is not what people want. So one thing I can control; the other I can't. The point is if you're short, you're out of luck. Oh yeah, I went on craigslist originally just to check out used laptops on sale.... man, there are 100s of postings for people wanting to get rid of computers every day.... I wonder why. Vancouver beat Dallas 4 games to 3 in the Western Conference Quarter-Finals. Stars goalie Marty Turco had 3 shutouts and they still lost. Worst part was, Dallas only lost 2-1 in Game 7 (plus 2 empty-net goals for Vancouver to make it 4-1). If Madano or Lindros had popped in a couple of goals, Dallas would have won easily. Stupid. You get 3 shutouts from your goalie and you still blow the series. When Detroit and Calgary went into OT in Game 6, with the Wings up 3-2 in the series, I knew the Flames were going to lose in extra time and the series. 1989 and 2004 were fluke years - but if you look at the Flames history in the first round: 1990 - lost Game 6 in LA in 2OT (clinching game) 1991 - lost Game 7 vs Edm in OT (after winning Game 6 in Edm in OT) 1992 - missed playoffs; 1993 - lost Game 6 in LA in regulation 1994 - lost Game 7 vs Van in 2OT (after losing Games 5 & 6 in OT) 1995 - lost Game 7 vs SJ in 2OT 1996 - lost Game 4 vs Chicago in 3OT (clinching game of a sweep) 1997-2003 missed playoffs; 2004 - won Game 7 in OT (breaking the curse) 2005 - lost Game 7 in a shutout, didn't have a chance to suffer heartbreak in OT May & June 2007 One of the worst things you see at work in favouritism...from the boss. True story: if someone's job performance is bad, the manager should not just ignore the situation just because he/she likes that employee. Not just bad performance, but a very poor attitude and not showing any desire to want to follow instructions... But anyway, the manager Sharon decided to ignore all this and continue to let May do whatever she wanted. If Sharon's gonna let Kevin be the supervisor, and May won't listen to Kevin's directions, then why is Kevin supervising? Just like, if you're going to warm up Jeff Reardon during extra innings of a World Series game, with the game on the line, and you don't bring him in, why is he warming up? Sharon refused to discipline May, which shows just what kind of a manager she is, and what kind of an outfit she runs. Pathetic. Ah yes, Ottawa didn't win the Cup. Instead, Anaheim won it all. Top reaons that it's a good thing the Ducks won: 1) In your face, Wayner: 99 wasn't the guy that brought the Cup to the West Coast for the first time ever. That proves he choked. Instead, little Anaheim wins it 14 years later. 2) No Cup rings for D. Heatley. Yeeesssss! (We all know what he did when he was a member of the Atlanta Thrashers.) 3) GM Brian Burke can now just tell the stupid Vancouver media to shut up once and for all. New found respect for Curt Schilling: June 7, 2007 - With Boston on a four-game losing streak and the Yankees continuing to win (Yes, Boston has a big lead in the AL East, but you never know), the Sox needed a "stopper" to stop the bleeding and get a win, desperately, in the finale at Oakland. Boston got only 1 run the entire game, so if starter Schilling had had a bad inning, a la Dice-K, the Sox would have lost the game easily. But no, Captain Curt shut the door, pitching a no-hitter for 8.2 innings before settling with a 1-0, complete-game, 1-hitter. That was clutch. And oh yes, the next night, in Arizona, the bats came alive, especially J.D. Drew's (with 7 RBI) as the Sox smoked the D-Backs. I am a teacher, but I can't stand other teachers. These idiots, from what I've seen, are a bunch of greedy people. It's all about money... it's not about helping students learn, it's all about money. They don't get paid for something, they don't want to do it. What a bunch of losers and idiots. Best matchups never to have happened: 1986 - Montreal Canadiens beat Calgary in the Stanley Cup Finals... but Calgary got there because of a fluke. Should have been Habs vs Oilers that year. Gretzky's Oilers would have smoked Patrick Roy easily. Regrettably, Edmonton never faced Montreal in the championship round in that era (or ever). 1990, 1992 - Oakland vs Pittsburgh in the World Series... both these two teams were the best in their respective leagues, and with Bonds, Bonilla on the Pirates and Canseco, McGwire on the A's, it would have been some great series to watch. Not to mention with aces like Drabek and Stewart as well. AND actually, these 2 teams were dominant in the 1970s, but also never met in the Fall Classic. 1991 - Minnesota vs Pittsburgh in the World Series (Pirates again!)... With the North Stars and Penguins already facing off earlier that year in the Stanley Cup Finals, it would have been interesting to see the Twins vs the Pirates. But alas, the Bucs fell 1 game short of reaching the Series, losing the NLCS in 7. 1991 - Boston vs Edmonton in the Stanley Cup Finals... both teams made it into the Final Four, and with them already meeting in the '88 and '90 Finals, it would have been interesting to see a third matchup. And it would have been the Oil's 7th trip to the Finals in 9 years, and for Boston's 3rd in 4 years, but alas, Edmonton fell flat on their faces vs Minnesota in 5 games in the Conf. Finals, and the B's blew a 2-0 series lead and fell to Pittsburgh in 6. 2003 - Red Sox vs Cubs in the World Series, though both teams were 5 outs away from advancing in the LCS before blowing their leads.
