ASPEK-ASPEK LINGKUNGAN Tumbuhan sebagai simbol kehidupan mendukung lingkungan Kotagede. Beberapa tumbuhan memiliki arti khusus dalam tradisi budaya Jawa. Tumbuhan-tumbuhan tersebut ditemukan dalam kompleks pemakaman raja Mataram. Ada 2 pohon beringin, salah satu dari pohon tersebut tumbuh di sebelah kiri pintu gerbang milik Surakarta. Pada Maret 1990 pohon tersebut tumbang dan menyebabkan 3 rumah hancur. Ada 6 pohon sawo kecik, 2 kelapa gading (kelapa kuning) dan pohon kanthil di halaman Masjid Besar Mataram. Ada 2 buah pohon kweni, 2 pohon kanthil dan 1 pohon nangka di halaman rumah juru kunci makam. Ada 5 pohon nagasari dan 2 pohon kweni di halaman pemandian Seliran. Ada 2 kelapa gading di halaman pemandian Seliran. Pada tahun 60-an terdapat pohon jeruk kikit di setiap rumah. Jeruk kikit adalah simbol keberuntungan. |
| THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECT Vegetation as a symbol of life support the environment of Kotagede. Some vegetation are founded in the complex of Mataram Kingdom Graveyard. There are two Banyan Trees. One of them grew on the right hand of Surakarta house door. In march 1990 the tree fell down causing 3 houses collapes. There are six Sawo Kecik trees, two Kepala Gading (or yellow coconut) trees, and one Kanthil tree in the yard of Mataram Great Mosque. There are two Kweni trees, two Kanthil trees, one Nangka tree in the yard of the graveyard guards`s house. There are five Nogosari trees and two Kweni trees on the other side of the yard of the graveyard guard`s house. There are seven Kepala Gading trees in the yard of Seliran bathroom. In 1960s there were Jeruk Kikit plants in every ouse. Jeruk Kikit is symbol of luck |
