About the webquest - aims
This webquest deals with two subjects: English and history. It is therefore advised that the webquest is used simultaneously in both subjects. This will not only make sure that the students work on both aspects of the webquest, but the students will also experience that school subjects do not need to be isolated from one another. The aims of this webquest are as follows:
   * Students learn about everyday life in a concentration camp.
   * Students learn how to write a diary in English.
Of course there are quite a few subaims for both aims, but they can be best determined by the teacher, depending on the classes' need.

About the webquest - implementation
This webquest was originally written for foreign students of English, although it can be implemented in L1 teaching of English as well. The emphasis for native speakers needs to be on the historical part of the webquest and not so much on the English part. There is no particular level for this webquest, since the primary English assignment is a writing one. Every student can perform the assignments on his or her own level. Of course, a student on absolute beginner level will find it nearly impossible to write a proper 30-day diary. The proper level of this webquest needs to be determined by the teacher, since he/she knows the class best.

Using this webquest
Written permission (via e-mail) needs to be obtained before using this webquest. To get this permission, send an e-mail to [email protected]. Include in this e-mail to what end you want to use this webquest. Permission will be granted. I don't ask for anything else, I just want to know where this webquest is going.

About the author
I am currently (May 2004) a second year student of a teacher training college in the Netherlands. I myself am not a native speaker of English, but of Dutch. I made this webquest for a course I was following called EIC: English and ICT. This particular assignment was an exercise in using the Internet for creating a webquest. I had already visited webquest.org once and I wanted to include this webquest on that site so that fellow teachers could use it.
This WebQuest may be used by anyone who deems it useful. It may also be modified to your own insights.
