Munky began his musical career after an accident with his three-wheeler, which severed the top of his left index finger. One night while sneaking away from a party and pushing his bike the chain slipped off. He slapped his hand on it so that it wouldn�t make a noise, but his finger got caught and it took the top off.
The doctor said �You will have to rehabilitate your finger somehow, like take up a musical instrument� and I said �How about the guitar� he goes� �That�s perfect�.
On stage Munky is often seen wearing an old pair of overalls, �I wanted to wear something on stage that was kinda trashy, dirty, you know. Because when I� am up there I feel sick.� �Really what it is, its like that person I don�t like in me, all the things a hate about myself, that�s who I am up their� � Munky
Munky can now be seen wearing a spanking clean pair of white overalls with black X's down the chest.
The self confessed teenage guitar geek, bought his first seven string Ibanez Universe (UV7) guitar in the early 90�s after hearing guitar masero Steve Vai use the model on his 1990 album. Munky recognised the sevens strings potential to create an entirely new vocabulary. With his long time friend Head also making this transition from six to seven strings, the pair developed their own arsenal of sounds, combining low-end crunch, and biting high-toned harmonics. Korn�s trademark sound was born.
